Toward a world where “It’s only natural that everyone is different” is the norm—CHANGE! We joined Tokyo Rainbow Pride again this year!
Hello, this is PR Sunny-chan!
SUNNY SIDE UP, which provides PR support every year for “Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2017,” joined the event again this year together with new graduate hires who joined the company in April!
4月に入社した新卒社員とともに今年も参加してきました!
Tokyo Rainbow Pride is an umbrella term for events aimed at creating a society in which sexual minorities—including LGBT*1—can live more authentically and positively without being exposed to discrimination or prejudice. This year, over nine days from Saturday, April 29 to Sunday, May 7, workshops, symposiums, and other programs were held in Tokyo’s Shibuya area and across Japan.
At the main events held at the Yoyogi Park Event Plaza—“Festa DAY” (May 6) and
“Parade DAY” (May 7)—a record-high 100,000 people attended over the two days!!
In addition, at the large-scale parade held on the 7th, where participants walked the streets of Shibuya and Harajuku in their chosen outfits while showing the presence of sexual minorities including LGBT, 11 new graduate hires who joined in April also took part. We are pleased to share this report.

◆◆◆◆◆ “Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2017” SUNNY SIDE UP’s Activities ◆◆◆◆◆
At SUNNY SIDE UP, we support Tokyo Rainbow Pride’s PR activities every year as part of our CSR initiatives!
We provide PR support, including advance announcements and handling media interviews for members of the press who attend on the day.
New graduate hires who joined in April also helped out on the day!
The new employees were in charge of the press reception desk.
Their tasks included asking for the outlet name, checking it against the list, and explaining key points to note for coverage. Since this day was the parade—the main event—there were many members of the press…
Even so, everyone worked together and handled it properly!
During the period known as “Rainbow Week,” from Saturday, April 29 to Sunday, May 7,
we displayed this banner on the SUNNY SIDE UP website.

SUNNY SIDE UP supports “Tokyo Rainbow Pride.”
Since our founding, we at SUNNY SIDE UP have consistently embraced a wide variety of values without being bound by what society considers “normal” or by preconceived notions.
That may be what connects to our slogan, “tanoshii sawagi.”
“Everyone is different—and that’s only natural.”
We hope to continue being a company that can accept such “differences” as a matter of course.
And because we want to see a world where accepting diverse values is “normal,” we support the PR activities of “Tokyo Rainbow Pride.”
With the aim of creating a society where everyone—including LGBT people—can express “being themselves,”
SUNNY SIDE UP will continue to support “Tokyo Rainbow Pride.”
*1) LGBT: One of the terms used to collectively refer to sexual minorities, formed from the initials of Lesbian (women who love women), Gay (men who love men), Bisexual (people attracted to more than one gender), and Transgender (people who choose to live as a gender different from the one assigned at birth, including those with gender identity disorder). There are also many other sexualities.
