RockCorps is back again this year! Now in its fourth year, this year’s Celebration (live event) will be held at Makuhari Messe!
Launching again this year!
We are pleased to announce that “RockCorps supported by JT 2017,” for which SUNNY SIDE UP serves as the lead organizer of the executive committee, will be held again this year!
For this fourth consecutive year, it has been decided that the Celebration (live event) that marks the finale will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Makuhari Messe (Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture) to allow even more people to participate!
Minami Takahashi appointed as Ambassador for the second consecutive year!
Minami Takahashi has been appointed as the “RockCorps supported by JT Official Ambassador” for the second consecutive year since the position was established last year!
Last year, as the official ambassador, she participated in volunteer programs at temporary housing, and
at the Celebration (live event), she energized the artists and participants as the MC.
Regarding her appointment as ambassador for the second consecutive year, Ms. Takahashi expressed her strong enthusiasm, saying, “I think volunteer activities can sometimes seem to have a bit of a high hurdle, but I believe that everyone’s passionate desire to meet artists and participate in live events can open the door to volunteering. I want to do my best as an ambassador so that even more people will participate!”
Furthermore, it has been decided that she will participate as an artist this year.
At the “RockCorps supported by JT 2017” press conference, she shyly announced herself as the first artist,
saying, “It’s me! (laughs).” She added, “Last year, watching the wonderful artists up close, I thought, ‘I want to stand there and become one with everyone!’ My fans also asked, ‘Minami-chan, aren’t you going to sing?’ so I am very happy!” She seemed to be looking forward to her first participation in RockCorps as an artist.
RockCorps CEO Stephen Greene also has high expectations for the fourth event!
RockCorps, which first arrived in Japan in 2014, is a new type of social contribution music event where participants can join the “Celebration” (live event) by completing four hours of volunteer work. To date, a total of 399 volunteer events have been held, with 12,367 people from all over Japan participating, creating 49,468 hours of volunteer activity.
Reflecting on the past three years in Japan, CEO Stephen Greene sent a message for the event: “I am delighted to announce the fourth ‘RockCorps supported by JT 2017’ during this wonderful season in Japan when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. The Japanese volunteers are very special to me, and I am proud of their warmth and incredible passion. I look forward to spending a wonderful time at the Celebration at Makuhari Messe in September, celebrating each other’s activities together with all the participants.”
Fifth Harmony confirmed to perform at the “Celebration” (live event)!
Fifth Harmony, the biggest girl group of this century that captivates teens worldwide,

「We are very happy to be performing at RockCorps, which will be held in the Tokyo metropolitan area for the first time! We hope that through the RockCorps community, we can create opportunities for many people to contribute to society. The Celebration is a place where everyone who has a special connection through sharing four hours of volunteer work can gather and celebrate their activities. We are very honored to stand on stage for the 4,000 volunteers with such wonderful intentions at Makuhari Messe on September 2, 2017! We want to make it a fantastic performance to express our gratitude to all the volunteers!」
Volunteer recruitment begins on Wednesday, April 5, at 4:00 PM!
In this fourth year in Japan, we will continue the volunteer support for areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake while expanding volunteer programs in the Tokyo metropolitan area to provide more people with opportunities to participate in volunteer activities.
We would be delighted if those who were interested in volunteering but lacked the opportunity would join us and discover the joy of it!
Volunteer activities will start promptly on Saturday, April 29!
Information regarding volunteers and Celebration artists will be announced sequentially on the official website, so please check back regularly!
We look forward to seeing you at the volunteer activities and the Celebration!
