[Part 1] SSU PR! A Comprehensive Guide to Summer 2019 Outing Spots

Hello, this is Sunny-chan from the PR department!

The Obon holiday has come to an end, but the summer vacation season is still in full swing. While relaxing at home is always an option, the spirit of summer vacation often inspires a desire to explore exciting new places.

In this two-part series, we are pleased to introduce a variety of summer outing spots for which our company provides PR support. These popular destinations offer enjoyment for both children and adults alike, so we hope you find this guide helpful.

■ Our first destination is “Unko Museum TOKYO,” which recently opened in Odaiba on Friday, August 9.

This venue is the second installment following “Unko Museum YOKOHAMA,” a limited-time exhibition on the second floor of “Asobuild” near Yokohama Station. It has opened on the second floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, significantly evolved under the concept of “MAX Unko Kawaii.”

As the flagship of all “Unko Museums,” it offers a novel experience centered around “unko” (poop) to “Unkers” (those who produce poop) worldwide, regardless of age or nationality—and we are entirely serious about this mission.

Sunny-chan visited the site immediately. I felt a sense of excitement and curiosity about a museum with such an unprecedented theme.

Upon entry, visitors are first guided to “MY UNKO MAKER,” a black space featuring a row of vibrant, colorful toilets.

Select a toilet in your favorite color and take a seat. At the staff’s signal, everyone strains together (it may take a few attempts), and “MY UNKO” appears inside the bowl!

Although Sunny-chan was still adjusting to the museum’s unique atmosphere, the sudden appearance of the colorful poop was so unexpected that I found myself exclaiming, “How cute!”

Since you can take this home as a souvenir, you can carry your personal “unko” with you as you explore the museum. Be sure to keep it safe, as it will come in handy later in the tour.

You can take photos with your “MY UNKO” at various spots.

The museum is divided into four main areas.

Just past the “MY UNKO MAKER” corridor is the “Great Plaza,” home to the massive “Unko Volcano” sculpture. Twice an hour, an “eruption” event occurs where small, colorful poop objects fly out from the peak—a truly spectacular sight that delights both children and adults.

Surrounding the Unko Volcano is the “Unstagenic Area,” featuring a collection of cute and sparkling poop displays.

In this photogenic space, you can take pictures with various types of poop, including cute and glowing versions.

Beyond that is the “Untaractive Area,” where you can enjoy various poop-themed games.

“Unko Shout,” where you compete by shouting “Unko!” as loud as you can

“Kuso Game Center,” featuring a variety of fun poop-themed games

This is followed by the “Untelligence Area,” where you can learn about poop-related items from around the world.

As I explored the venue and took part in the various experiences, I could feel the negative image of “poop” gradually shifting. To my surprise, by the time I left the museum, my perception had completely changed to “Poop is cute and fun!” (laughs).

The experience was so impactful that by the time I reached “Unko Factory,” the shop selling limited-edition merchandise, I found myself genuinely wanting to buy some.

With a theme as universal as “poop,” this interactive museum offers enjoyment for everyone, regardless of gender, nationality, or age. Why not add it to your list of places to visit?

That concludes the first part of our Summer 2019 Outing Spot Report. Stay tuned for the second part!
