Ginza’s largest commercial complex, “GINZA SIX,” finally opens on Thursday, April 20! Sharing “GINZA to the world” from here!
Hello, this is PR Sunny-chan!
This time, we would like to introduce a highly talked-about spot from the PR projects SUNNY SIDE UP is involved in!
It is “GINZA SIX,” the largest commercial complex in the Ginza area,
which will hold its grand opening on Thursday, April 20!
Facing Ginza Chuo-dori in Ginza 6-chome, it boasts an overwhelming scale—approximately 115 m wide, about 100 m deep, and a total floor area of around 148,700 m²—making it the area’s largest commercial facility at approximately 47,000 m².
The tenant lineup brings together an incredible 241 global brands!
Along Chuo-dori, six world-leading luxury brands—House of Dior Ginza, CÉLINE, SAINT LAURENT, Van Cleef & Arpels, VALENTINO, and FENDI—stand side by side as street-level boutiques. Inside the complex, you will find a curated selection of on-trend brands attracting attention on the global collections circuit, making this a place where you can see what’s happening in Japan right now—an array of shops where you can experience the latest trends from around the world!
In this article, we will introduce the appeal of GINZA SIX, which is creating new value and history in Ginza—a district drawing attention from around the world!
As soon as you enter, the first thing that catches your eye is the large atrium space located at the center of the facility!
Adorning the iconic atrium space is an artwork created exclusively for GINZA SIX by avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama, who is active on the global art scene!
Fourteen red polka-dot pumpkin balloons on a white base are suspended like a chandelier.
Featuring dots and pumpkins—signature motifs of Kusama’s work—her distinctive worldview unfolding throughout this luxurious space makes a powerful impression!
This is what it looks like when you view the atrium from an upper floor!
Can you feel the fusion of the facility’s luxurious space and Yayoi Kusama’s artwork!?
This is on display as the opening exhibition for a limited time, from Thursday, April 20, 2017 to Sunday, February 25, 2018.
And the collaborations with diverse talents do not stop there!
In the GINZA SIX special movie, Ringo Shiina and Matsumoto Tortoise appear together for the first time!

The GINZA SIX special movie “Main Street” is a fantastical and luxurious film created to share Ginza with the world as “GINZA to the world”!
The song used in the special movie, “Menuki-dori (Main Street),” is a new track created specifically for this film by Ringo Shiina, who has released many songs set in Tokyo, such as “Kabukicho no Joou” and “Marunouchi Sadistic.”
Collaborations with diverse talents are also one of GINZA SIX’s challenges!
And the Kanze Noh Theater, a hub of traditional performing arts that Japan is proud to share with the world
Located on Basement Level 3, the “Kanze Noh Theater” serves as a base for sharing Japan’s traditional culture.
In contrast to the luxurious worldview above, the traditional Japanese space is overwhelming just to be in!
As Ginza is a district visited by many people from overseas, it is a place where not only Japanese visitors but also those from abroad can enjoy Japanese culture.
And there are even more experiences you can only have at GINZA SIX!
At the six street-level boutiques along Chuo-dori introduced earlier, GINZA SIX-exclusive items are offered with a luxurious, distinctive flair. In addition, each store features many special products—such as GINZA SIX exclusives and advance sales ahead of other locations—making it a truly one-of-a-kind experience you can only enjoy here!
Beyond fashion, “PHILIPPE CONTICINI,” opened by French pastry master Philippe Conticini, is available only at GINZA SIX in addition to Paris, France. The fact that the facility creates a special place found nowhere else in the world in so many ways is one of the reasons GINZA SU|IX continues to attract attention!
You can check GINZA SIX special items on the official website, so if you are interested,
please be sure to take a look!

At last week’s media preview, many members of the press were in attendance.

This is the Beauty Floor on Basement Level 1, and it was so crowded with members of the media that it felt as if it were already open. The “GINZA SIX Press Preview” was held from 10:00 to 17:00, and the number of media attendees that day was approximately 3,000!
We could truly feel just how much anticipation and attention GINZA SIX is receiving as it shares “GINZA to the world”!
As a commercial complex where you can enjoy fashion, beauty, food, art, and even experience Japan’s traditional culture, it has become a highly talked-about spot where you can fully enjoy a wide range of attractions and ways to have fun!
It finally opens tomorrow, Thursday, April 20!
We hope you will visit GINZA SIX and enjoy the one-of-a-kind offerings it shares with the world—things you can only find here and experiences you can only have here!
