Just like the real thing! After-School Internship STEP2 Held! – Young Eggs Competition –
Hello! I am Murakami from the General Affairs HR Department ^^
The internship program “After-School Internship,” which is becoming a SUNNY SIDE UP staple.
Only those who have completed all five courses—“PR,” “Logical Thinking,” “Marketing,” “Planning Presentation,”
and “Promotion”—are eligible to participate in
“STEP2 – Young Eggs Competition –,” which was held!
I would like to report on how it went! (For last year’s report, click here!)
In STEP2, participants apply what they learned in the five courses, assuming they are proposing a plan to a client, and actually develop a proposal in a business-contest format!
Now then, what is this year’s assignment??
[Assignment]
Please come up with measures to increase the number of university students traveling overseas.[Client] (proposal recipient)
Sunnyside Up Travel Co., Ltd.
*The client is a fictional company.
Participants were given the assignment in advance and asked to do some preliminary research, and then a member who teaches the Planning Presentation course explained the project details once again.
Everyone was completely serious!
This kind of advance briefing is also an extremely important task in real business situations!
This is called an “orientation.” Before you start developing a plan, you first explain the basic concepts and information that should be shared, the intent behind the request (assignment), points to note, budget, schedule, and so on.
If you do not fully understand this, you may end up creating an off-target plan, so we place great importance on this step in our work as well.
Now, it is finally time to split into teams and get started!!
One instructor from STEP1 joins each group as an advisor. The instructors are also fired up, saying, “Let’s go win this!”
First, each team starts with self-introductions.
It started in a relaxed mood, but the moment they got into the main topic, some groups launched into passionate discussions with faces turning bright red!
What I found interesting here was each group’s notes on the board.
Some teams used memos or made it easy to understand with illustrations, and some boards were so neat you would wonder, “Is this really a whiteboard?!”
Each team’s personality really came through!
As the remaining time dropped below one hour, everyone shifted to the work of pulling everything together for their presentations.

Now, on to the presentations
At last—it is time for the presentations of the plans they spent about seven hours creating! Once again, we will receive feedback from President Tsugihara, two executives, and five instructors.
The first presenter is Team D!! You would think they would be nervous, but their energetic, humor-filled presentation had everyone excited!!
From the second team onward, determined not to be outdone by the excitement, they hurriedly coordinated what kind of performance to deliver and took on their presentations (lol).
I think this every year, but the plans students come up with are full of individuality, and every plan sounds interesting! Some teams also impressed us with how thoroughly they had thought through the details.
And then, a short break while the winning team is selected!! Everyone, thank you for your hard work over seven hours!!
Regardless of team, everyone takes a breather.

Everyone gets along so well!! One of the best parts of the After-School Internship is seeing the circle of connections among students expand like this ^^
And now!! The moment of truth—the results!
The winning team is…
Team B, who proposed a plan in which parents “gift a trip to their child when they turn 20,” taking a different angle from the other teams!!
Congratulations to everyone on Team B ^^
President Tsugihara presented them with a trophy, and everyone had such happy smiles.
This project, in which participants fully applied what they learned across all STEP1 courses to tackle the assignment, proved to be an extremely rewarding opportunity for the instructors, the organizers, and everyone who participated.
By spending a full day refining their plans as a group and delivering presentations, every team fought it out in earnest.
I sincerely hope you will use this experience as a foundation and do your best in your job-hunting activities going forward ^^
With the conclusion of this STEP2, our “After-School Internship” has now completed all courses.
Thank you very much to everyone who participated.
We sincerely look forward to seeing you again!!
