Which team will win the “After-School Internship” STEP 2 – Young Eggs Competition?!

Hello, I am Sunny-chan from PR.

On Saturday, February 20, the “After-School Internship” STEP 2 – Young Eggs Competition, held by Sunny for university freshmen through seniors, took place!
IMG_2025Eligibility for STEP 2 is granted upon completing all five lectures in STEP 1. (Click here for details on STEP 1.)

In this post, we will share the highlights of the event!

Experience Sunny’s Work Methods
STEP 2 is a “business contest style” event where students develop plans based on a hypothetical request from a client.
The proposed plans are presented to executives, including President Tsugihara, who then judge which team’s proposal is the most outstanding.

【Assignment】
Propose measures to halt the declining birthrate and aging population.

【Client】 (Target of Proposal)
The Government of Japan

It is a challenging theme, but what kind of plans will the students propose?

First, a warm-up exercise!IMG_1023 (Cropped)Here, teams are competing to see how high they can stack newspapers. (Laughs)
Without a solid foundation, how can they stack the newspapers higher? Each team is working hard, brainstorming ideas together!
IMG_1029 (Cropped)The winner was Team A!
The key here is to break free from stereotypes and focus on “thinking” about what methods are possible.

Now, time to split into teams and start planning!
IMG_1076 (Cropped)IMG_1080IMG_1089 (Cropped)One senior employee who served as a lecturer in STEP 1 is assigned to each team as an advisor. While the lecturers can provide advice on methodologies and ways of thinking, they are prohibited from contributing their own ideas!

Presentations
IMG_1140 (Cropped)Three executives, including President Tsugihara, and five lecturers served as judges, listening intently to each team’s presentation.

IMG_1109 (Cropped)The President fired off questions one after another, as if to say, “I won’t go easy on you just because you’re students!”

However, everyone did their best to answer even the toughest questions. It was truly impressive! In actual business settings, questions are often asked without mercy, and detailed explanations are required.

Networking Session During Judging

While the judging took place in a separate room, we provided light refreshments to encourage the participating students to network with one another. Meeting here is a special opportunity, and we hope everyone cherishes these new connections.

Now, it’s time to announce the winning team!

The winning team of this year’s “After-School Internship STEP 2 – Young Eggs Competition” is…

IMG_1974 (Cropped)A trophy was presented to the winning team. While every team presented excellent plans, the deciding factor for the victory was their “proposal from a perspective different from the other teams.”

While the theme was measures to address the declining birthrate and aging population, Team E also looked at issues such as poverty, child neglect, and children on waiting lists for childcare. They proposed measures not only to increase the birthrate but also to support children today.

Congratulations to everyone in Team E!
As a winner’s prize, you will participate in an event managed by Sunny and experience an actual workplace! Stay tuned to find out which event it will be!

Words from the Lecturers to Each Team
IMG_1166The lecturers also shared messages with each team regarding their observations throughout the day and what they hope the students will apply in the future.

Although it was a challenging theme, there is great value in thinking deeply and completing the task within the time limit. We hope you will apply this experience to your future lives!

To all the students, thank you for your hard work!
