SDGs Series Vol. 0: Can we change the world with a “fun commotion”? Introducing the social-good initiatives led by SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP!
Hello! I’m Sunny-chan.
The wind has turned chilly, and it finally feels like full-on winter mode! During work time, chilly Sunny-chan cannot do without a warm drink. With SUNNY SIDE UP’s original reusable bottle filled with a delicious café latte, she keeps herself warm.
In this way, simply “using a reusable bottle instead of a disposable cup” allows you to take part in eco-friendly action!

Click here to learn more about the “GO GREEN PROJECT,” a sustainability initiative you can promote in the office, including using a reusable bottle!
Starting with “one thing we can do, even in the office”! GO GREEN PROJECT launches to gently encourage sustainability initiatives for companies and individuals!
This time, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new social-good series!
A new company established under the banner of “Driving solutions to social issues through the power of PR,” Good&Co.,Inc., and the SDGs PR Strategy Team newly formed within SSU Division 3 Sports. A new series is starting in which members who work hard every day as PR specialists behind social-good initiatives will share SDGs-related content!
As Vol. 0, we would like to look back on SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s journey with the SDGs in digest form.
A pioneering social program initiative that swept Japan: the “White Band Project.”

This project began in mid-May 2005, inspired by White Band activities in the UK. The sensational message, “Every three seconds, a child dies because of poverty,” moved many people’s hearts, and the bands were sold as an item to show support. In Japan, “White Bands” ultimately sold nearly 6 million units.

A social contribution initiative symbolizing the newly formed Japan Post Group: “Carbon Offset New Year’s Cards.”

Carbon offset is the idea of bringing net CO2 emissions for the planet closer to zero by paying an amount equivalent to the CO2 emitted toward clean energy development projects and forest conservation and tree-planting activities. By combining carbon offsets with New Year’s cards—something everyone has a chance to get at least once a year—it created opportunities for many people to wonder, “What is carbon offset?” and look it up, helping them learn about social-good initiatives.

Social contribution × music event: “RockCorps.”

We held a music festival by bringing it to Japan for the first time, built around the concept: “If you volunteer for four hours or more, you can attend a live performance by top artists.” The total number of hours created ultimately reached 17,912, and it became a hot topic as a new kind of music festival that encourages volunteering while having fun.

One of Asia’s largest LGBTQ-related events: “TOKYO RAINBOW PRIDE.”

Every year, thousands of people join the “Pride Parade,” marching through Shibuya with rainbow flags, each in their own style! It is an event aimed at creating a society where people can live more true to themselves and with a positive outlook.

A project that designs women’s empowerment from both physical/mental challenges (W) and social challenges (society): “W society.”

“W society” is a social participation project created with the aim of building a society where “all women can feel satisfied and create fulfilling lifestyles,” and SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP also participates.
We hosted a live YouTube stream featuring ambassadors and doctors discussing women-specific concerns, including the AMH test (a blood test that reflects ovarian reserve), menstrual pain, and birth control pills.
