[June 5 is World Environment Day] SSU Original Bottles Created! Online Magazine “SDGs MAGAZINE” Also Launched!
Hello! This is Sunny-chan from Public Relations.
Today is World Environment Day!
This day was established following a proposal to the United Nations by Japan and Senegal to commemorate the opening of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, held in Stockholm, Sweden, on June 5, 1972. It was the world’s first major intergovernmental meeting regarding environmental issues.
The theme for 2020 is “Time for Nature.” While initiatives for environmental protection are expanding worldwide year by year, it remains a fact that there is still much more that can be done.
In light of this, the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP considered how it could contribute and decided to produce original reusable bottles! By carrying a reusable bottle instead of purchasing beverages in disposable plastic bottles, we can reduce plastic waste.
Why is it necessary to reduce plastic waste in the first place?
Currently, it is estimated that approximately 8 million tons of plastic flow into the world’s oceans as waste every year. This “marine plastic” is broken down into small pieces by the action of waves and ultraviolet rays, becoming microplastics.
Large quantities of these microplastics have reportedly been found inside the bodies of marine organisms. While the specific effects of ingesting these particles are not yet fully understood, they are expected to be harmful due to their tendency to adsorb toxic substances.
Since it is nearly impossible to collect microplastics once they have spread into the ocean, it is essential to reduce plastic waste as much as possible now.

The “SSU Original Bottle” is complete!
To contribute even in a small way to the plastic waste issue mentioned above, we have created the “SSU Original Bottle,” featuring a sunny-side-up egg design on a “Hydro Flask” stainless steel bottle that provides both heat and cold retention!

The bottles were produced in white, gray, and black, centered around our corporate color, yellow. They were distributed primarily to our members and their families.

Members currently in the office took a commemorative photo while remaining mindful of social distancing!
When we invited applications within the company in advance, we received more requests than the number of bottles we had originally planned! All bottles were distributed in no time.
We hope this serves as an opportunity for many of our members to think about environmental issues!
Launch of the Online Magazine “SDGs MAGAZINE”
Today, SUNNY SIDE UP Inc. launched the online magazine “SDGs MAGAZINE”!
The concept of this magazine is “Making SDGs more fun and easy to understand.”
For those who say, “I know the term SDGs and the colorful logo, but I don’t know where to start,” or “SDGs are only for countries and corporations and have little to do with me,” we aim to provide a platform that encourages individual action toward achieving the SDGs by delivering “easy-to-understand” information.

Moving forward, we intend to actively contribute to environmental issues by using the power of PR to foster empathy among more people, inspire them to take action, and change the world. Furthermore, all of us at the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP will strive to ensure that each individual continues to consider environmental issues.
