Film director Naomi Kawase also joins! Ahead of International Women’s Day, the W society special video “#Let’sKnowOurselves,” in which diverse women share the importance of “knowing yourself,” is released today!!
Today, “W society,” a project in which SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP participates, released a special video titled “#KnowMyself” to convey the importance of women “knowing themselves.”
What is “W society,” the project addressing challenges facing women?
What is “W Society”? Launched last September with ambassadors including judoka Uta Abe and models Seina Shimabukuro and Mila Hasegawa, it is a project that designs “Well-Living” (a state of living better) for every woman by addressing both physical and mental challenges (W=woman) and social challenges (society). SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP participates alongside partners such as Roche Diagnostics K.K., Panasonic System Solutions Japan Co., Ltd., Unilever Japan Holdings G.K., and Mitsui Sumitomo Aioi Life Insurance Co., Ltd.
The authentic words of women living in the present gently touch the heart.
Introducing the content of the special video “#KnowMyself” released today.
Supervised by film director Naomi Kawase, this special video features 21 women active in various fields, including the three W society ambassadors, actress Honami Suzuki, sports traveler Moeko Fukuda, dancer BENA, entrepreneur Makiko Kawamura, and Miss Universe Japan Director Hiroko Mima. Under the theme “Know myself, for the sake of…,” they share their thoughts while taking self-portraits, expressing the importance of facing “myself in this moment.” With no script, the authentic words spoken by each individual make every shot resonate deeply.
We visited the filming site for a brief look.
Many of the participants entered the studio feeling a sense of nervous excitement.
Although some appeared nervous at first, as they spoke about their thoughts—such as what it means to know oneself and why they want to do so—their eyes began to sparkle, and their unique personalities were beautifully captured on film.

Each participant conveyed the “importance of facing oneself” through a variety of messages and expressions.
We hope this video reaches those who watch it and inspires them to take action.

What are the future plans for W society?
Starting with the release of this video, “W week”—a campaign to reflect on the relationship between women and society—will be held for four days from Saturday, March 5, to Tuesday, March 8, 2022, including International Women’s Day. These four days will be designated as a time for “society as a whole to face, know, and learn about women,” featuring content related to women’s healthcare and careers, centered around online conferences.

The free online conferences to be streamed on Saturday, March 5, and Sunday, March 6, will feature speakers such as Reiko Shiota (Representative Director of Woman’s ways), Mila Hasegawa (model), and Moeko Fukuda (sports traveler).
Under themes such as “Prepare and Start: ‘Gentle’ Fertility Treatment,” “Let’s Talk More! Children and ‘Sexuality’,” and “The ‘Well-Living’ Future I Envision,” we will re-examine women and society from various perspectives, including careers, healthcare, and how to approach children’s sexuality.
Additionally, content from various media outlets is scheduled to be released on Monday, March 7, and Tuesday, March 8.
We hope that “knowing yourself” will lead to a brighter and more enjoyable future.
