Presented by New Graduates! The 2018 SSU Group New Year’s Party! This year featured high-energy team-based games!!

Hello! This is Y, a member of the new graduate team!

It has been nearly a year since we joined the company in April.

Although we are still novices within the company, we have begun to be entrusted with various tasks. Amidst the daily hustle and bustle of our duties, an opportunity arrived for us new employees to demonstrate the results of our hard work…

That opportunity is the annual SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP New Year’s Party!!

Every year, the new employees who joined during that fiscal year are responsible for organizing this party.

This year, we, the 2017 new graduates, are the organizers!

Meetings for the New Year’s party began with site visits squeezed in between our daily tasks! After much careful consideration, we selected “bills Odaiba” as this year’s venue. Since many of us have been working in separate departments since July, we wanted to plan something that would transcend the boundaries of departments and group companies. Therefore, we decided on team-based games, which we designed ourselves from scratch!

We debated back and forth, worrying about whether the games would be enjoyable and if the schedule would be too hectic on the day of the event.

During the preparation phase, we faced a relentless series of challenges, from difficulties in procuring prizes to hitting walls with the game designs. We experienced firsthand the difficulty of not just planning an event, but doing so while constantly considering how to ensure all employees truly enjoy themselves.

And then, the day of the New Year’s party arrived!

Since there is some distance between the office and bills Odaiba, we chartered three buses this year—a departure from previous years!

Ensuring a comfortable journey to the venue was part of our hospitality.

The bus shuttle offered beautiful night views characteristic of Odaiba.

At the venue, the organizers who arrived early were busy with last-minute preparations. Despite thorough preparation until the day before, unexpected issues are inevitable. Drawing on the flexibility we have learned from handling numerous events and press conferences in our daily PR work, we managed to start the party smoothly.

Of course, we organizers also handled the emceeing, audio, and slides ourselves.

The emcees were these two, perhaps the most unique (?) members among our new hires.

Once the emcees opened the event, we began with a toast led by the President!

Seeing everyone enjoying the food at bills quickly dispelled our anxieties about whether they would have a good time!!

As for the games we planned for this New Year’s party…

As you can see from the photos, it was a huge success!!

We held quizzes featuring trivia that any PR professional should know, as well as parodies of certain TV shows. The excitement exceeded our expectations, and all the painful memories of the difficult preparations were instantly transformed into fond memories of a great time.

Challenges arose during both the preparation stage and on the day itself, but the new employees overcame them together each time, strengthening our sense of unity. We hope to apply this teamwork to our future work!

As soon as the party ended, we had many reflections on what we could have done better. We will pass these lessons on to the incoming recruits who will organize next year’s event!

We hope this report conveys how we have grown through the experience of organizing this New Year’s party!
