Morning study session “Poached Egg,” bringing you the latest trends! This time, we invited a current university student to hear what young people have to say!

Hello, I am Sunny-chan from PR.

We held “Poached Egg” again this month! It is a study session where SUNNY’s younger employees, in particular, present and share the latest trends, but this time we had a special guest!
IMG_2050 (cropped)A current university student who had just joined us as an intern also joined at short notice. Everyone was very interested, as we had the chance to hear opinions and insights from a university student’s perspective on what is trending on campus!

Now, let us introduce this month’s examples right away!

The current state of young people moving away from TV

The number of users of the service “Video On Demand (Video On Demand),” which allows viewers to watch a wide range of video content whenever they want, has increased tenfold in one year. The official commercial TV portal “TVer” has around 2.5 million users! These days, when people say “I watch TV!”, it seems that “TV” often means a smartphone… The intern also said that among friends living alone, very few own a TV, and if they watch anything, it is on a computer or smartphone.

The cordless landline phone “Sugoi Denwa” is selling like crazy

X Mobile Co., Ltd.http://mosimosi.co.jp/

It may look like a cordless landline phone, but it can also be used for the internet, so it is essentially a landline-style mobile phone! It is easy to carry around, and it is reportedly selling well, especially among older people. You would be surprised if someone pulled this out of their bag, wouldn’t you? (LOL)

Is the next big keyword “healthy snacking”?

There are reports that people who eat more frequently per day tend to consume fewer total calories and have a lower obesity level (BMI). In the United States, healthy snacking is now drawing attention. In Japan as well, healthy snacking is an important concept, and it may become a key buzzword going forward.

The hugely popular world-class club “PACHA” from Spain’s Ibiza, a paradise for dance music, is coming to Japan at the end of 2016! Ahead of the Japan event, a kickoff event will be held on Tuesday, May 3 (public holiday), at the Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal in Tokyo. Anyone with a keen eye for trends should definitely check it out!

Air Bonsai

More and more foreigners are becoming fascinated with “BONSAI,” which condenses nature into a form that can be enjoyed as interior décor or an art piece. A bonsai that will make you want to shout, “I want this!” has appeared on Kickstarter—even if you are not one of them.

Big Science Experiments: A Sky Full of Rainbows

“Big Science Experiments” depicts large-scale experiments that captivate everyone, presented through stylish visuals. In Taiwan, they take on the challenge of creating multiple layers of rainbows. It is packed with the laws of nature and scientific knowledge that everyone tends to take for granted!

● Secret Society: Shufu no Tomo

Secret Society “Shufu no Tomo” — An unofficial organization of NPO Fathering Japan —http://xn--tiq99x.com/

A group of househusbands formed with the slogan: “If the government sets a goal of increasing the percentage of women in management to 30% by 2020, then househusbands should be 30% too!” It seems they even hold company information sessions! “Ikumen” (hands-on dads) has become widely recognized, but awareness of “househusbands” is still quite low, isn’t it? Every family is different. We hope there will be more and more options available!

A day to help university students think about their careers, including marriage, childbirth, and parenting: “Family Study Abroad”

manmahttp://manma.co/

A project in which mainly female university students and soon-to-be moms and dads visit a household for a day and, through that family’s everyday life, are encouraged to think positively not only about work but also about marriage, childbirth, and parenting. It is true that universities offer opportunities to think about careers, but there is nowhere to learn about marriage and childbirth, is there?

We also asked the intern for her opinion, and she said that there are indeed not many career-oriented women around her. While society is paying attention to women’s advancement in the workplace, we felt that there are still many female university students who think, “I want to be a wonderful mother!”

What did you think? Please look forward to next month’s Poached Egg!
