Step Inside an Encyclopedia!? Introducing ZUKAN MUSEUM GINZA, a New Immersive Digital Museum Opening This Summer
Hello! I’m Oku from the Global Communication Department, in my second year since joining as a new graduate.

Suddenly, do you remember being absorbed in encyclopedias as a child? The mysterious ecology of creatures that become more fascinating the more you learn, or the grand natural phenomena of distant lands. Many of you surely remember that “thrilling” sensation of discovering new worlds simply by turning the pages.
This summer, a new immersive facility where you can step into the world of encyclopedias is opening! We introduce ZUKAN MUSEUM GINZA powered by Shogakukan’s Encyclopedia NEO, which SUNNY SIDE UP is involved in operating.
ZUKAN MUSEUM GINZA powered by Shogakukan’s Encyclopedia NEO Opens on July 14, 2021 (Wed) *

On July 14, 2021 (Wed), a new immersive digital museum will open on the 6th floor of Tokyu Plaza Ginza. Its name: ZUKAN MUSEUM GINZA powered by Shogakukan’s Encyclopedia NEO. This is an experiential facility where you can step into a world where creatures selected from the “Shogakukan Encyclopedia NEO Series” are visualized “digitally,” allowing you to experience and learn about realistic ecosystems—and indeed “nature” itself—that cannot be fully conveyed through encyclopedia books alone.
The “Zukan Museum Limited Liability Partnership” established for this museum includes Shogakukan, which has stimulated children’s creativity with abundant content including the “Encyclopedia NEO Series,” along with Sasaki Holdings, AID-DCC, DRILLSPIN, Dentsu, and The Asahi Shimbun Company, all of whom support the concept. SUNNY SIDE UP is also a member of this partnership, participating in operations from a PR communication perspective.
The tagline for ZUKAN MUSEUM GINZA is “That Excitement Becomes Your Knowledge.”
Combining the expertise of each company in this unique collaboration, the museum aims to create a new immersive academic entertainment space that stimulates people’s creativity through excitement and wonder.
“Navigate” as You Turn Pages!? A New Immersive Digital Museum
So, what kind of experience awaits at ZUKAN MUSEUM GINZA?
True to the catchphrase “Walk, Encounter, Feel, Go Discover,” you can walk through a space where digital and reality merge, encounter creatures you could only see in encyclopedias, feel their presence, and continue walking to discover other creatures—an immersive experience in the world of encyclopedias.
A diverse range of creatures are selected across the “Shogakukan Encyclopedia NEO” series. Whenever you visit, you can encounter various organisms that constitute “Earth’s nature.”

《About “Shogakukan’s Encyclopedia NEO”》 |

The inhabiting creatures react to guests’ movements based on their respective ecologies. Additionally, the facility incorporates concepts of time passage and weather changes, with certain creatures and scenery appearing only under limited conditions.
Rather than turning pages of a book, by “navigating” through space and time where all organisms coexist, you can experience “Earth’s nature” with all five senses as space and time progress.
Truly, it is “a living museum where ‘Earth’s nature’ is condensed.”

A new encyclopedia experience where you can encounter, observe, and record creatures and nature with your own feet.
Not only for children, but for everyone, you can enjoy immersive experiences impossible at home and grand-scale experiences as if traveling through natural environments around the world. When it opens, why not visit?
