On Wednesday, March 2, we held the “OMOTENASHI Selection 2016” awards ceremony and a special event! Ninety hospitality-filled products gathered in Nihonbashi!

Yesterday, on Wednesday, March 2, the awards announcement ceremony for the “OMOTENASHI selection 2016” was held at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall.
“OMOTENASHI Selection” is a project that invites and discovers products and services filled with the spirit of hospitality and shares them both in Japan and overseas, and this year marked its second edition. This year, we accepted applications for 274 products and services, and through selection by Japanese and international judges, 90 award recipients were chosen. Of these, 23 recipients with particularly high evaluations were presented with Gold Awards.
Manami Honjo appeared as a presenter and cheered on the award recipients so that Japan’s “omotenashi” will become “OMOTENASHI for the world.” We also shared a same-day report in SUNNY SIDE UP’s news, so please be sure to take a look.

Future developments announced at the awards ceremony
At the ceremony, we spoke about the project’s purpose, our activities and achievements to date, and future developments. As part of what’s next, we announced new distribution initiatives, including collaboration with a website provided by Japan Post Co., Ltd.
Exhibition of 90 award-winning products
At the awards ceremony venue, we created an exhibition space for the 90 products and services that received awards this time.
“KAGO-Square”
This is a cast-metal item whose shape can be freely changed. I liked that it can be reshaped to suit different uses, such as a fruit bowl or a wine bottle holder.
“Kyoto Uji Tencha The Uji”
This is Japanese tea. It is a new type of premium Japanese tea suited to social occasions such as parties and formal receptions, and it is also becoming increasingly popular as a gift. Packaged in a wine bottle that is easy for overseas customers to enjoy, the design also has a distinctly Japanese, luxurious feel, so we believe it will be well received internationally.
“Okitano Smooth Japanese Jam Monaka Set”
A modern-style Japanese sweet: “wa-jam.” The packaging is also cute, making it perfect as a small gift or souvenir.
After the Part 1 awards ceremony for the Gold Awards and Special Awards, we presented certificates to the 90 award recipients at this venue.
Everyone was picking up and looking at other companies’ products and services, chatting with one another, and the venue was very lively.
Many members of the media also attended, and many Gold Award recipients were being interviewed.
