Since I was young, I’ve admired detectives who solve unsolved cases and mysteries with limited clues.
However, I became a working professional without ever encountering such situations…
But when I heard that a facility where you can solve mysteries to your heart’s content had opened in Nagoya’s Sakae district, I visited the magical immersive mystery-solving entertainment facility “NANICA-NAGOYA-“!
SUNNY SIDE UP is responsible for media promotion and press release distribution for this facility. This time, I, Kawakami, who is in charge of this project, will be reporting!
Located just a 3-minute walk from Yaba-cho Station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Meijo Line, the facility is in a prime location, with the surrounding area including Hisaya-odori where Nagoya’s representative gourmet spots are gathered.
With an entire floor of a facility in this central district dedicated to the mystery-solving experience, expectations continue to rise.
What is “NANICA-NAGOYA-,” the first in the Tokai region?
The magical immersive mystery-solving entertainment facility “NANICA-NAGOYA-” opened on December 23, 2025, in the heart of Sakae, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. Following its success in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, it is attracting attention as the first permanent facility in the Tokai area. In Tokyo, it attracted over 15,000 visitors in approximately six months after opening, and expectations are high in Nagoya as well, with enthusiasts reportedly traveling to Nagoya and staying overnight to experience it.
Continuously bewildered by countless tricks…
First, where is the entrance?
When you exit the elevator, you are greeted by over 100 paintings covering the entire wall.
Finding the entrance hidden among these is the starting point, and I was bewildered by NANICA’s tricks from the very beginning.
Beyond the door, a grand and fantastical space unfolds. The walls are scattered with hints and codes indicating “what is happening in this world,” making you feel as if you’ve become part of the story.
After receiving your ticket at the reception, you open the door hidden in an unexpected place—inside the fireplace—and step into the “magical world.”
An immersive space that stimulates all five senses
The facility is divided into five main areas. Each area has a different themed space, and players solve mysteries while progressing according to the story.
＜MIRROR (Hall of Mirrors)＞
The first challenge is the “Hall of Mirrors.” The space composed of mirrors is full of visual illusions and mysterious tricks. In this unique world where mirrors and reality intermingle, the production that tests not only appearance but also depth perception and sense of distance was extremely impressive.
Here, multiple mini-games such as “fortune-telling,” “finding anomalies,” and “mystery-solving to find doors” are prepared, allowing you to experience the “joy of solving things yourself” that cannot be tasted through mere observation.
＜STASIS (Post Office)＞
Next, I visited a space modeled after a post office where time has stopped. This area, where you follow the traces of a former witch while approaching the mystery among old letters and envelopes, has high game and narrative qualities and is designed to be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to advanced players. The dynamic mystery-solving that progresses with time limits increased the sense of immersion the further I progressed.
As a beginner, I was able to solve the mysteries with the help of hints from the staff.
In addition, there are diverse tricks prepared, including an area where you explore a “magical shopping street,” a mysterious casino space, and even an elevator-style stage with fantastical production set in the sky. Each area has its own unique story, allowing you to experience a world beyond mere mystery-solving.
Each time you clear a mystery, you are handed a “magic card.” This is not just a commemorative item but an important element that records your adventure as “proof.” It is said that tricks are also prepared where collecting cards leads to the next mystery or new experiences.
This time, I was unable to conquer all areas, but through the process of solving each mystery, I experienced the sensation of becoming the protagonist of the story myself. The fact that “different experiences are created” depending on the player’s choices and approach is also a unique attraction of this facility.
Furthermore, there is a photogenic space in the back, perfect for Instagram.
Apparently, mystery-solving content will be added here in the future, and expectations are already growing.
An entrance to enjoy even after solving mysteries
After completing all experiences, when you return to the entrance, original drinks and goods with magical motifs are lined up. For example, colorful drinks such as “Witch’s Kiss” and “NANICA’s Aurora Soda” are perfect for savoring while basking in the afterglow of your journey.
In addition, there is a diverse lineup of take-home mystery-solving kits and magic-themed miscellaneous goods. By taking them home as “souvenirs” after the experience, you can enjoy the story world at home as well.
I felt that “NANICA-NAGOYA-” is not just an experience facility, but a new form of entertainment that fuses narrative, spatial design, and participant experience value. While the difficulty is designed to be enjoyable even for mystery-solving beginners like myself, it has a depth that satisfies core fans as well, making it a unique attraction that I recommend to a wide range of age groups!
