In-depth Research Project: 7 Selected Christmas Cakes Trending in the Media This Year — A thorough trend investigation by a member training to become a PR professional.
Hello. My name is Matsuno, and I joined SUNNY SIDE UP in August as a part-time intern after receiving a job offer.
To prepare for my debut as a PR professional at SUNNY SIDE UP next spring, I am currently conducting research for the “NIHONMONO” project and studying various media outlets, including magazines and television.
As the days grow colder and the streets begin to sparkle, the Christmas season is fast approaching. Have you decided on your plans for Christmas this year?
While opportunities to go out have gradually increased, it is predicted that many people will continue to spend Christmas at home this year, as they did last year.
For this article, we conducted thorough research on 20 web media outlets associated with various magazines to see which Christmas cakes are being featured this year. Our findings revealed that the cakes highlighted vary by outlet, and even when the same cake is featured, the presentation differs subtly depending on the media source.
We would like to introduce several hotel Christmas cakes featured across numerous media outlets, perfect for enjoying a “slightly luxurious ‘at-home Christmas’ with loved ones.”
Palace Hotel Tokyo: “Poinsettia”

Using 100 “Skyberry” strawberries from Tochigi, this cake features chocolate decorations inspired by a poinsettia blooming in a snowy landscape and stands an impressive 52 cm tall. Limited to just 10 units and priced at over 70,000 yen, it offers a truly premium experience in both flavor and price.

Palace Hotel Tokyo: “Bouleau”

Lifting the chocolate lid, crafted to resemble white birch, reveals a traditional French Marjolaine cake. A delightful feature allows the decorative herbs to be enjoyed as herbal tea. Please enjoy them together with the cake.

The Westin Tokyo: “Noisette Pistachio”

Are there mushrooms growing from the cake? The eye-catching decoration resembles a tree stump in a forest. This cake offers a rich combination of pistachio, hazelnut, and chocolate.
Conrad Tokyo: “Fleur de C Vegan Cake”

This high-quality vegan cake is crafted by the pastry team led by Masaki Okazaki, an award-winner in international competitions. It contains no animal-derived ingredients, such as eggs or dairy. The fruit decorations, inspired by a Christmas wreath, and the poinsettia made from soy milk cream are charming additions.

Have you found a hotel Christmas cake that catches your eye? Writing this article has certainly made me quite hungry.
I was surprised to find some cakes so luxurious that they are still beyond my reach as a university student. I can only imagine the flavor of a high-end Christmas cake costing over 10,000 yen. I would love to try one someday—preferably something with strawberries or chocolate.
Looking at magazines and web media through the lens of “media research” has led to many small discoveries. From visual impact to the use of rare ingredients or the unique touch of a famous chef, the points of interest vary by outlet. Even with a single subject like Christmas cakes, I was able to gain insight into the distinct characteristics of each media source.
We hope you find these hotel Christmas cakes helpful in adding a touch of luxury to your Christmas at home.
