“Poached Egg” is back on Zoom! From viral recipes on social media to a robot encouraging social distancing—here are the highlights.
Hello. I’m Sunny-chan from PR, and lately I have been hooked on a certain Netflix series and am feeling a bit sleep-deprived.
The other day, “Poached Egg” was held, so I would like to report on how it went!
To begin with, “Poached Egg” is…
a very casual gathering where volunteer members from different departments and age groups get together to share news and trends they have been interested in lately, so everyone can “sound like they know it all!” The president joins every time as well.
As with the previous session, this Poached Egg was held using the online meeting system Zoom, with participants joining from their homes or offices.
Now, I will introduce a carefully selected few topics that came up from members this time!
After Dalgona coffee, is “Egg in a Cloud” next? A stylish breakfast menu that is popular on social media

As the days of refraining from going out continue, stylish dishes you can make at home are still trending on social media. Following the Korean-born “Dalgona coffee,” which was popular a little while ago, the next hit is “Egg in a Cloud,” featuring an eye-catching yolk perched atop fluffy meringue!
Sunny-chan has also tried various egg dishes in keeping with the company name, but this dish looks more stylish than any of them—I am determined to make it.
Some also commented that it could be interesting to propose it to clients as a “plus-one” idea to add to product promotion initiatives.
“DeepL Translator,” gaining attention for its high accuracy in translating both colloquial language and dialects

https://gigazine.net/news/20200323-deepl-translator-japanese/
A translation tool that allows you to easily translate into many different languages. Many of you may often use such tools in situations like “I want to know what a foreigner wrote on Instagram,” or “I want to communicate with friends overseas.” However, with translation services up to now, words have sometimes been interpreted with the wrong meaning, resulting in sentences that still feel unnatural…
However, this online translation service, “DeepL Translator,” which became a hot topic this time, apparently recognizes and correctly translates the meanings of colloquial language and dialects as well! I tried translating Kansai dialect into English, and was impressed at how well it translated. Please do give it a try.
Let’s reduce plastic waste with the “Paper Bottle Project,” which Coca-Cola has also expressed support for

With initiatives such as the introduction of a fee for plastic shopping bags starting July 1 this year, various efforts are moving forward as solutions to the issues of marine plastic waste and global warming.
One major development is the production of plant-based bottles to replace PET bottles. Unlike PET bottles, which remain without biodegrading, paper bottles are reportedly made from materials that return to nature in a few years. Major companies such as Coca-Cola and Danone have expressed support for this initiative, and wider adoption is anticipated.
It also became a topic of conversation that they would love to make SUNNY SIDE UP’s original water using this material as well!
Robot dog “Spot” encourages social distancing in a Singapore park

In Silicon Valley in the United States, robots that deliver food from restaurants have appeared, and the use of robots to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 is increasing.
In Singapore, during the period when outings to parks were restricted from May 8 to 22, a trial operation was conducted using Boston Dynamics’ yellow, dog-like quadruped robot, “Spot.”
Watching footage of “Spot” actually walking through the park, many were surprised to see it moving without a human escort. It felt as though we caught a glimpse of a future world where humans and robots coexist—exciting, yet also a little frightening, and strangely so.
How was it?
This time as well, many topics came up about services and trends that have emerged due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19. It was also a very lively Poached Egg, with everyone sharing how they have been spending time at home.
By the way, the president apparently has been using time at home to learn self-defense techniques and ways to survive if an elevator were to fall, via YouTube…!
Please look forward to the next blog post!
