[Start of the 35th Term] Group Kick-off Meeting Report! – Aiming to be a place where everyone’s “fun” can be realized –
Hello everyone, how are you all doing? This is O from the Public Relations Group.
As of July 1, 2019, SUNNY SIDE UP has entered its 35th term! In this blog post, we would like to share a report on the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP kick-off meeting held recently.
■ Surpassing “Club Etsuko”! The project born out of hardship…
The Group kick-off meeting is an annual tradition. It is an event where all group members look back on the highlights of the previous term and share the goals and vision for the current term. Last year, our president, Etsuko Tsugihara, dressed up as a Ginza hostess and produced a video titled “Club Etsuko,” in which she interviewed representatives from various departments and group companies, which was screened at the meeting. Her performance, which rivaled that of a real Ginza hostess, was very well received (laughs).
How could we share the vision for the term with all group members and create something that surpasses the humor of “Club Etsuko”? To overcome the high bar we set for ourselves, the Public Relations Group took the lead in planning several months ago.
And here is the project to mark the start of the memorable 35th term! Graduating from being a Ginza hostess, Tsugihara has finally been appointed as a news anchor. “news32,” a news program that reports on “Let’s Have Fun!” was born! (This is a tribute to various news programs).
In the program, Tsugihara plays the main anchor of a fictional news show called “news32” and interviews representatives from various business divisions and group companies. The program includes a sports corner, an entertainment corner, commercials, and even a “Business Forecast” corner to predict the economic climate of the entire group for this term. After several months of filming and editing, a 1 hour and 30 minute masterpiece was completed! (Please rest assured that we were also doing our other work properly.)

Filming took place in a studio in Tokyo with a full set. We were completely serious!
■ The screening took place on an impressive 360-degree screen!
The day of the Group kick-off meeting finally arrived. Until last year, the event was held by renting out a single screen at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi, but this time we changed things up and held it at “Ebisu Act Square,” which features an impressive 360-degree wraparound screen!

Members gathering at the venue one after another
In “news32,” in addition to the segments sharing the group’s vision and goals, familiar internal members appeared as commentators and field reporters! The audience was thrilled by the “questionable” acting (?) of the members projected on the giant screens surrounding them! There were serious scenes and funny scenes… the 1 hour and 30 minutes flew by.

■ Honoring members who created a stir! SUNNY AWARDS!
The Group kick-off meeting was packed with content beyond the screening of “news32”! We also held the “SUNNY AWARDS” to honor members and teams who created a stir with “Let’s Have Fun!” during the previous term.

July 1st is SUNNY SIDE UP’s birthday. Everyone toasted to celebrate the start of the 35th term!
A new “Media Award” category was established to recognize young media promoters, and the top media promoter was awarded a Soccer World Cup trophy (a replica, of course)!
In addition, we determined the “Like!” category, which honors members who received the most “Likes” for having a great smile, incredible initiative, or amazing ideas, as well as the “MVT (Most Valuable Tanoshii Sawagi)” category for outstanding projects. The venue was filled with excitement!

■ Toward a place where everyone’s “fun” is realized. We look forward to your continued support in the 35th term!
The Group kick-off meeting, which lasted about 2 hours and 30 minutes, came to a close with a speech from Tsugihara.
“Since our founding, we have held the slogan ‘Let’s Have Fun!’ However, the definition of ‘fun’ varies from person to person. That is precisely why I always want us to be a company where everyone can realize their own version of ‘fun.’ I want everyone to be able to achieve what they consider ‘fun’ based on their own values here at SUNNY SIDE UP. Let’s continue to work together as a whole group this term.”
The SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP has grown to over 600 members, including those in Japan and overseas. To each member of the group, their families, our business partners, our shareholders, and everyone who supports the group: we will continue to move forward in our 35th term, aiming to be a group where everyone can realize their own version of “fun”!
The real “Let’s Have Fun!” has only just begun. We look forward to your continued support in the 35th term!
P.S.
It is a shame that we cannot show you the video project “news32” that we put our hearts into… If you really want to see it, why not join the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP!? http://www.ssu.co.jp/recruit/career/
(Now, what should I do for next term’s project…)
