2018 is the Year of the Dog! Announcing the establishment of “SUNNY SIDE DOG,” a new company where all founding members are “puppies”!?
Happy New Year. This is O from the Public Relations Group. We look forward to working with you again this year.
Our company has a tradition of welcoming new presidents and interns based on the year’s zodiac animal, starting with the Sheep President in 2015, followed by chicks in 2016, and an ostrich in 2017.
The Sheep President ended up eating important documents, the chick interns were terrified of the chicken nuggets served for lunch, and the “ostrich” resigned after doing nothing but eating oden… 
This year is the Year of the Dog! As such, we are pleased to share the details of our annual New Year’s zodiac event.
The first working day of the year began with a company-wide morning assembly for all group companies, starting with a New Year’s address from Tsugihara.
“Happy New Year! As a company that has actively promoted diversity, SUNNY SIDE UP aims to create an environment where animals, not just humans, can thrive this year. Since it is the Year of the Dog, we have established a new group company called ‘SUNNY SIDE DOG,’ where every employee is a ‘puppy.'”
Indeed, for this Year of the Dog, we have established a new group company, “SUNNY SIDE DOG,” where all employees are dogs. The “puppies” owned by SUNNY SIDE UP employees have been appointed as the executives of this new entity.
Following the announcement, barking echoed through the assembly hall as the “five” founding members made their appearance. Hana (a female Toy Poodle) was appointed as the inaugural president of SUNNY SIDE DOG.
In addition, 111 hot dogs were served as a commemorative gift from SUNNY SIDE DOG to mark the establishment of the new company.
Subsequently, the employees of SUNNY SIDE DOG worked alongside SUNNY SIDE UP staff in the office. They proactively engaged in their duties, which included participating in a PR planning meeting for canine footwear.
There were also moments where they were seen working closely with SUNNY SIDE UP employees.
During their breaks, they even visited a nearby shrine for Hatsumode (the first shrine visit of the year).
In the afternoon, the founding members of SUNNY SIDE DOG held an executive board meeting. They also prepared the necessary registration documents for the new company’s establishment. However, as the person in charge from the Administration Department reviewed the paperwork, their expression quickly turned grim…
Upon closer inspection of the seal on the documents, it was revealed to be a “paw print”! Consequently, the plans for the new group company were scrapped, leaving the SUNNY SIDE DOG employees to simply wait for their owners to finish work. 
While the company was not officially established, it was a day filled with the sounds of barking and laughter throughout the office. Let’s make this a great year!
*Looking ahead, next year’s zodiac animal is the Boar. I doubt we can bring a wild boar into the office… If anyone has a brilliant idea, please let me know privately (haha)!
