A brand-new year begins again today^^

Last year, SUNNY SIDE UP caused quite a stir with the commotion over the sheep president’s appointment and dismissal (details here), and it seems there was another incident this year as well (lol).

The year kicks off with an energetic address from the president!
And then, the HR Director has an announcement…

“With an eye on growth over the next year, we have hired 14 long-term interns. They will be assigned to the Media Relations Department, so senior staff, please make sure to take good care of them!”

A sudden mass hiring! What kind of interns will be joining us? As the office buzzes, the interns themselves make their entrance.

Yes—chicks!
The decision was made with the hope that by the time it becomes the Year of the Rooster a year from now, they will have grown into fine chickens.

They are promptly handed over to the Head of Media Relations with instructions to raise them well for a full year!
Caught off guard by the sudden turn of events, the manager is simply bewildered—speechless…

In contrast to the manager’s confusion, the team adores them! Everyone is completely smitten by the adorable chicks.

Now officially interns, the 14 of them first attend an orientation for new employees. They learn very important things such as Sunny’s history and philosophy… but these little ones seem to lack focus.

Next comes practice exchanging business cards. Somehow, their expressions have become more serious! Perhaps they have begun to feel a sense of responsibility as interns.

Once orientation is over, it is finally time to start work. They help create documents while being taught by senior staff, typing away as they skillfully step on the keyboard.

Next, the interns also join the annual New Year visit to Hatonomori Hachimangu Shrine.
They pray to become fine chickens at Sunny. How reassuring!

How will the interns’ fortunes be this year? They draw omikuji… and it is Great Blessing!
That is an excellent start!

Then, back at the office, the president invites them to have lunch in the president’s office, saying lunch has been prepared.
Having been nervous since morning, the interns are starving. Excitedly, they enter the president’s office—and there it is…

“Chicken” nuggets.
Oh no—we were careless! We have shown the chicks something terrible!

“So we’ll be eaten in a year, too. We hate a black company like this!” the interns shout as they bolt away! Wait! That is a misunderstanding!!

Unbelievable. The year-long internship plan that the company’s future depended on ended with every single intern quitting in less than half a day…
