A Martial Arts Boom at SUNNY SIDE UP?! Experiencing “Fightness,” a Fusion of Martial Arts and Fitness!
Hello, this is PR Sunny-chan!
August has come to an end, and September is already here.
With continuous rain and many cool days, it felt as though we didn’t get to experience much of a typical summer this August.
Now, regardless of the season, we bring you news of the men and women of SUNNY SIDE UP, who are always fired up!
We welcomed former mixed martial artist Shungo Oyama to experience “Fightness,” a program that fuses martial arts with fitness!
Mr. Oyama visits companies and schools to conduct training and lectures. We took the opportunity to have him organize a training program for us during August’s Premium Friday!
Here is a look at the warm-up.
We alternated holding hands while shifting our center of gravity backward, but if you aren’t in sync with your partner,
you end up losing your balance like this.
Does this mean these two still lack a relationship of trust? (Laughs)
Since the program is primarily performed in pairs, it facilitates communication between employees, and there was no end to the laughter right from the warm-up.
For blocking practice, we used paper fans instead of striking mitts.
The instructor, Mr. Oyama, moved around to provide guidance to each pair.
A relentless storm of paper fans…
Finally, we finished with an intensive training session using mitt work.
Some participants had no prior experience in martial arts, but by the end, the results of the training were evident and they looked the part!
Everyone had a great workout and enjoyed themselves!
While “going to the gym after work” is great, exercising together at the office is highly recommended as it fosters communication among employees!
We held this “Fightness” session on Premium Friday, and participants seemed to have a fulfilling end-of-the-month Friday, with comments such as, “It was very refreshing to exercise while it was still light outside.”
Little by little, Premium Friday has encouraged people to adjust their schedules to finish work by 3:00 PM and rethink their own work styles, so consistency is clearly important!
What kind of “fun commotion” will the next Premium Friday bring?!
Please look forward to it!!
