Morning Study Session “Poached Egg” Held to Deliver the Latest Trends!

The “Poached Egg” session was held again this month!

“Poached Egg” is a morning meeting where volunteer members of various ages and departments gather to casually introduce anything from recent news and trends to noteworthy PR/promotions and personal interests.

The day began with a discussion about the popular Korean idol group “TWICE,” who are nearing their Japanese debut!

In South Korea, the group is immensely popular not only for their charming looks but also for their iconic choreography. With three Japanese members among the nine-person lineup, they already have a large following in Japan and have been a hot topic even before their official debut!

There are many fans within the company as well, and they were seen teaching others the famous “TT pose” and “Signal pose” (laughs).

This session of Poached Egg began in such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Many other interesting topics were gathered, so let’s introduce them right away!

The Popular Instagram Hashtag: #LifeWithGoPro

GoPro is a compact, lightweight, and waterproof action camera designed to capture dynamic action scenes and powerful landscapes with a sense of realism. As GoPro allows for high-quality photos and videos that smartphones cannot capture, the number of Instagrammers using them is increasing. Recently, some TV programs have even been using GoPros for location shoots instead of traditional ENG cameras.
With the end of the rainy season approaching, many people will likely be active during their summer holidays. Some of you may already be planning your summer vacations.
While they are a bit of an investment, those who want to preserve precious memories beautifully might want to consider purchasing a GoPro!

FISHERMAN CALL

http://call.fishermanjapan.com/

“Fisherman Japan,” an organization based in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, that works to train young fishermen, has launched a service where fishermen wake you up with a morning call.
Appropriately named “Fisherman Call,” the service allows users to not only be woken up but also to converse with their favorite fisherman of choice. It was reportedly very popular among women who dream of marrying into a fishing community. Unfortunately, this campaign was for a limited time and the first round ended in May. However, with applications far exceeding the 30 available slots and a massive response, there may be a second round in the future!

Radio Calisthenics Reborn through Reggae! Is this the next “Koi Dance”?!

http://www.huffingtonpost.jp/2017/06/19/story_n_17216384.html?

A unique version of radio calisthenics is gradually gaining popularity. While the music is the familiar “Radio Calisthenics No. 1” that everyone knows, the choreography has been rearranged into reggae dance moves while keeping the melody intact.
While reggae might sound difficult, it consists of only 13 simple reggae movements. It has become a hot topic on social media as something “anyone of any age or gender can dance to,” with some calling it the successor to the “Koi Dance.” Some elementary school students who are not familiar with traditional radio calisthenics because it isn’t practiced at their schools find the reggae version more accessible.
This summer vacation, we might see elementary school students and grandparents alike performing the reggae version of radio calisthenics!

Fitness x Volunteering: “Good Gym” Trending in London

A completely new form of volunteering called “Good Gym” is currently a hot topic in London.
Based on the concept of “DO GOOD, GET FIT,” it is a system that allows people to volunteer and exercise at the same time—essentially becoming healthy by doing good (contributing to society).
At Good Gym, participants can visit elderly people living alone to provide companionship during intervals in their runs. The system involves running to the senior’s home and then running back (as one example of their activities).
In Japan, where the aging society is a serious issue, it is said that some elderly people living alone do not speak with family or friends for months. It would be wonderful to see more of these great ideas realized in Japan, allowing people to contribute to society while exercising for their own health.

Luminous Donuts

In Australia, donuts that glow in the dark have been released and are reportedly very popular. When shown these somewhat eerie glowing donuts, the participants all reacted with boos, saying, “Eww! They look unappetizing!” (laughs). However, they are still donuts, so they apparently taste delicious. The icing that causes the glow is derived from Vitamin B, making it safe and harmless to the human body. Recently, foods that evoke the image of outer space have been called “Galaxy Food” and are being widely promoted in the media as a cutting-edge food trend. “Galaxy Food” is a keyword to watch in the future.

The Restaurant of Mistaken Orders

A restaurant with a unique name opened for just two days in early June at a certain location in Tokyo.
What sets it apart from ordinary restaurants are the six women responsible for taking orders and serving food. What they have in common is that they all live with dementia.
This project aims to communicate a new set of values: “accepting mistakes and enjoying them together.” If each of us could have just a little more tolerance in our daily lives—thinking, “It’s okay to make a mistake once in a while,” like the customers at this restaurant—it might create a sense of excitement. Although it was originally planned as a quiet event for only about 80 invited guests, the response was far beyond expectations. There are now plans to raise funds through crowdfunding and reopen for a limited time around September. If there is an opportunity, I would love to visit and experience the excitement of not knowing what dish will be served until it arrives!

That is all for this session. What did you think?
Finally, a commemorative photo was taken with a member’s own GoPro. All participants struck a TWICE pose for the shot.
