Hello, I am Sunny-chan from PR.
This is the second installment of our New York report from our new hire! Last time, we introduced events and campaigns. Now, we will introduce “FOOD”! What is trending in New York right now?
2016 “Food Trend of the Year” Predictions! Udon from Japan Makes the List!
New York sees numerous food trends emerge every year. Continuing from last year, simple, organic, healthy, natural, and local remain popular keywords. Among these, trust in Japanese cuisine is particularly strong. Sushi, teriyaki, izakaya, and ramen… and next up is udon. For Westerners who struggle with slurping noodles, udon is soft and easy to eat, and its light broth appeals to health-conscious New Yorkers. The name “Samurai Mama” is heard everywhere, and like ramen, we may see more Japanese companies entering the market!

A New Rising Star in Fast Food: Healthy Burgers at Chick-fil-A
The second New York location of “Chick-fil-A,” a popular fast-food chain across the United States, will open on April 2 near Rockefeller Center (W 46th St. and 6th Ave.). (Photo shows the first location.) Chick-fil-A’s signature menu items are healthy burgers free of trans fats and cholesterol, appealing to health-conscious New Yorkers. The first location, which opened last October, still had lines extending to the front of the store a month after opening, and there is talk that it may become as popular as Shake Shack, New York’s hugely popular burger chain.

Viral on Social Media! Rainbow Bagels at “The Bagel Store”
We also introduced this in Today’s Top News! The hottest topic dominating various media outlets in New York is “The Bagel Store” in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg. The rainbow bagel-making process has been described as “like playing with clay” due to its colorful appearance, and at first glance, you might question whether it’s actually food. Additionally, various types are available beyond the rainbow bagel, including a Valentine’s Day limited-edition pink marble type. The “French Toast Cragel,” a combination of croissant and bagel, is also popular. We look forward to the next creation from this shop that continues to produce new bagels.
