Poached Egg: A morning study session delivering the latest trends! For breakfast, we tried the dish that was a hot topic at our last meeting…

Hello, I am Sunny-chan from PR.

“Poached Egg” is a session where we present the latest trends over breakfast! Since it was held again this year, I would like to introduce some of the case studies right away!

For this breakfast, we had “10-minute Donbei,” which was a big topic of conversation at the previous Poached Egg! We decided to test if it was actually delicious. ^^
While we were all excitedly preparing, we realized something critical!
902 (Cropped)Out of the five Donbei we prepared, three were “Soba”! The “10-minute Donbei” that became a trend is actually “Udon,” not “Soba”… (laughs).

905 (Cropped)Since we were already here, we decided to try it with Soba as well! First, we tried the Udon and Soba prepared with the standard waiting time. They were perfectly delicious.
(Since Soba usually takes 3 minutes, we tried doubling it to 6 minutes.)

Next, we tried the Donbei after 6 and 10 minutes. The appearance didn’t seem to change, but…

Figure 1At first, I imagined soggy Udon noodles, but the texture and firmness were completely different from what I expected. Because they absorbed the broth, the noodles were chewy and the fried tofu was fluffy! It had a different kind of deliciousness compared to the 5-minute Donbei. As for the Soba, the unanimous verdict was “3 minutes is best!” (laughs).

At this point, the CEO chimed in: “You can’t tell which is better unless you compare them at the same time. Pouring the hot water into all of them at once was a mistake.”

……

Buying Soba by mistake, failing to time the hot water for a proper comparison… I suppose this is just typical of SUNNY SIDE UP in a way… (laughs).

Pardon the long digression. Now, let’s get back to the main topic! I would like to introduce the case studies from Poached Egg!

“Read More Books”: Paperbacks that serve as train tickets

This campaign was conducted by the Brazilian paperback publisher “LP&M POCKET,” who were concerned about people moving away from books in Brazil. They embedded RFID chips (similar to Suica cards) into the book covers and distributed paperbacks with subway riding rights for free at subway stations on World Book Day. The book itself serves as a ticket!

Always Bold! Gokase Highland Ski Resort
