Introducing the 32 Benefits: Club Activity Support

Hello.
I am Yamashita from the PR team.

At SUNNY SIDE UP, we have a unique (perhaps?) set of benefits called “32 Benefits”.
This time, we will introduce the “Club Activity Support” benefit.

“Club Activity Support” System

A benefit that supports employees’ club activities across all genres, from outdoor to indoor.

At our company, a company-wide “Kick-off Meeting” attended by all employees is held every year on July 1.
Not only the entire group, but each department also presents a review of the previous term, as well as strategies and plans for the coming term.

During lunchtime, representatives of SUNNY SIDE UP’s official clubs recognized under the “Club Activity Support” benefit give presentations on their activities from the previous term and their plans for the current term.

These presentations are always very lively every year.
This year as well, the captains of each club delivered creative presentations!
Since we have the opportunity, we would like to introduce SUNNY SIDE UP’s official clubs along with highlights from those presentations!

Basketball Club

Basketball ClubThe Basketball Club says it struggles to find places to practice due to the limited number of gyms.
Many employees from group companies also participate, bringing together a lively group of younger staff.

TOKYO RUNNERS (Running Club)

TOKYORUNNNERS

“TOKYO RUNNERS” also trains together with running enthusiasts outside the company.
In addition to regular practice, they also participate in trail runs and marathon events, and seem to be very active. I joined a practice session in the past, and running together is truly enjoyable!

Golf Club

Golf Club

Within the company, it has the image of attracting high-caliber (?) members.
In fact, I had never played golf before, but I once joined a tournament. Every time I hit the ball, I tried to place it on top of the pin, which earned me some chuckles. It is a kind (?) club even for those who want to start playing golf.

Baseball Club

Baseball Club

The Baseball Club got big laughs with the former captain’s humor-filled comments, then handed over the baton to the new captain.
With more new members joining, I could really feel their determination to focus on becoming stronger going forward!
They actively play matches against teams from other companies.

Card Board Game Club

Card Game Club

This is a club activity that people from outside the company can also join.
It seems employees’ family members also join, enjoying card games in a friendly atmosphere, but

Believe it or not!!
It is not just ordinary card games—they apparently play games that help you develop business skills!
The game is called “Werewolf.”
Below are excerpts from comments by employees who experienced “Werewolf.”

I had thought the appeal of this game was its strategy and psychological warfare,

but the greatest appeal of this game is:
how much you can become someone who trusts others, and how much you can become someone others trust.

Whether you can accept the despair, ruin, distrust, and deception that lie beyond.
And how strongly you can believe in that fleeting moment of joy that will someday come around.

Yes—this is, quite literally, life.
Its appeal is that you can experience the joys and sorrows of life that come around, all within a few dozen minutes.

Someone important once said that a presentation is a place to make the other person believe “how correct your proposal is,” and I thought: perhaps Werewolf is the same.

People who only state their own logic cannot win at Werewolf.
Those who make others believe their logic is the right answer win at Werewolf.

After seeing this, the president quipped, “Is this the Poetry Club!?”

We often work on projects related to major news that many people across Japan know about, and we have many clients, business partners, and stakeholders.
Because mistakes are not tolerated, we may be strongly criticized and feel discouraged, and at times employees may clash over work.
However, I feel very fortunate that, by meeting as employees of SUNNY SIDE UP, working in the same place, and being able to do activities together outside the company, we have “companions”—and that we have them.
(Not “friends,” but “companions”!)

There is also a possibility that the number of clubs will continue to increase through presentations to management!
I wonder if the “Odd Tour Club,” which disappeared in the past due to too few members, might come back again.
(I actually hear quite a lot of people saying they want it to return…)
