Summer is here! Activity booking sites, behind-the-scenes stories of that hit movie, and more… Poached Egg Event Report

We are in the midst of new graduate recruitment! I’m Sugawara from the Human Resources Department.
I participated in Poached Egg because I wanted some topics to talk about when speaking with students!

Poached Egg is a gathering where volunteer members of various ages and departments come together to share information they are currently interested in and become well-informed. There were many interesting topics this time as well, so I’ll introduce a few of them!

It’s more than just Instagrammable. This is a work of art!

Mmm, so cute!!
While there are many “Instagrammable” foods, these salad cakes and smoothies are not just photogenic. Each piece has its own image and worldview, with designs changed for every order. You can feel an artistic quality similar to a work of fine art. Of course, they are committed not only to the appearance but also to the ingredients, using only natural products.

I really want to try them, but since the shops are only in Osaka, I have vowed to definitely go buy some when I return to my hometown (since my family is in Kansai)! Now, let’s move on to the next introduction.

Traveling the world while working!? The trending “Lehman Traveler”

Due to my role in HR, I have many opportunities to speak with students looking for jobs, and one of the top five questions I get is, “Can I take long vacations? I want to go on overseas trips…” Of course, we have various leave systems such as summer and winter holidays, as well as the 32 Benefits, so many members do travel abroad. However, as a PR agency, it can sometimes be difficult to take long breaks depending on the timing and the projects one is handling.

However, Mr. Higashimatsu, a “Lehman Traveler” working in the same industry, travels abroad on weekends while working five days a week, aiming to travel around the world!!
Where there’s a will, there’s a way. That must be it.

Summer is finally here! Why not take the plunge and try a new activity this year? “SOTOASOBI,” one of Japan’s largest outdoor leisure and activity booking services, has been renewed.

The rainy season has ended, and summer is finally in full swing. For those wondering what to do on their next day off, this is a must-see! The specialized booking service for outdoor leisure and activities across Japan has been renewed. For those of you who are indoor types and feel that being a “Lehman Traveler” is too high a hurdle (that’s me! lol), why not start by playing “outside” (soto) on the weekend?

For those of you who thought, “But I’m tired from work, so I want to rest quietly on my days off!” (that’s me again! lol), are you familiar with the term “active rest“?

It is a concept that aims to shift from “resting when tired” to “exercising when tired.” It is a new style of recuperation where, instead of going home to sleep when exhausted, you engage in light exercise. This weekend, there’s no choice but to go for some “SOTOASOBI”!!

530,000 views for this!? “Study With Me”
The YouTuber who just studies

YouTubers are attracting so much attention that they rank in the top three of “jobs I want to have” among junior high school boys. Perhaps it’s addictive… I watch them every day too. Speaking of YouTubers, there are several common themes like “trying something in the bath,” “Coke and Mentos,” or “spending 1 million yen on something.” However, Bot-No-Jam from South Korea has become a hot topic by posting something unprecedented: “videos of himself studying.” If you find yourself chatting too much when studying with friends, why not try studying with Bot-No-Jam for once?

Was the working title during filming “Call Out Loud”?

“Shoplifters” has been achieving one feat after another at international film festivals, winning the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Donostia Award for lifetime achievement at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. It is a high-profile work that has also become a major hit in Japan, with box office revenues reaching 3.4 billion yen (as of July 7). Many of you may have seen it. Interestingly, the working title for “Shoplifters” during filming was actually “Call Out Loud.” There are lip-syncing scenes throughout the film, and it is said that the touching moments and moving words are not actually spoken aloud.

That being said, I haven’t seen it yet, so I’m going to go watch it this weekend using the “Fun Disturbance Creation Support” system (part of the 32 Benefits)! If you haven’t seen it yet, please do watch it in theaters! (This ended up sounding like a movie promotion, lol.)

Finally, a topic for HR! The trending “Teal Organization”
The emergence of a next-generation organization that overturns management common sense

A Teal Organization refers to a new organizational model that dismisses (it is no exaggeration to say it is the polar opposite of) conventional “management” methodologies.

This book, which has been a hot topic since its Japanese edition was published in January 2018, defines traditional management and organizational structures as “Achievement-oriented Organizations.” It points out that the methods we have taken for granted and that actually produce results also have significant side effects. What are those side effects? If you’re curious, head to the bookstore!

The last part became a bit formal, but
this Poached Egg session also gathered a variety of topics, from interesting tidbits to educational content.

Look forward to the next report!
