Ready for the Approaching World Cup? Sometimes Lively, Sometimes Intense. The Futsal Club Enjoyed a Great Workout at an Internal Exchange Event and a Public Tournament! | Club Activity Report
Hello, everyone! I’m Kiyota from SUNNY SIDE UP.
With the Soccer World Cup finally kicking off this June, we felt it was time for the Futsal Club to get moving in anticipation of such an exciting event (a bit late, perhaps). We started by hosting an internal exchange event, and recently participated in a public tournament!
What are SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s “Club Activities”?
The “Club Activity Support” program is one of the unique employee benefits included in SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s “32 Benefits.” With the goal of promoting communication among members and enhancing group synergy, it supports the establishment and continuation of club activities that match members’ various hobbies and interests, regardless of whether they are outdoor or indoor activities.
However, as PR professionals, our mission extends to information dissemination. As demonstrated in this article, members of each club activity freely share their activities on SUNNY DAYS, our group’s owned media platform.
February: Cross-Departmental “Internal Futsal Exchange Event” Held
On a certain day in February, we held an internal exchange event at a court in Tokyo! This time, not only club members but also second-year new graduates and members from other departments with whom we haven’t had many opportunities to interact participated as guests.
Even with some people meeting for the first time, once we kicked the ball together on the court, position and age didn’t matter. We teased senior colleagues who stumbled while trying to shoot, and everyone celebrated together when a female member scored a goal. It was impressive to see everyone openly expressing their emotions and enjoying every single play!
We concluded with the traditional group photo. The smiles of everyone who worked up a good sweat seemed different from the expressions they show in the office.

A Serious Match at a Public Tournament!?
Following the internal exchange event, we finally participated in an external public tournament recently!
“Wow, every team looks so strong…” is a common feeling at tournaments. We stepped onto the pitch somewhat overwhelmed by the atmosphere. So, what were the results!?
Despite starting with two consecutive losses, with the arrival of a major reinforcement, we went on to win two in a row! Although our final record was 2 wins and 2 losses, all teams had similar results, leading to a tight competition.
Winning the final match 3-0 was significant, and we finished as runners-up, just 1 point behind first place. While we narrowly missed the championship, it was an incredibly exciting day that deepened our team bonds even further!
The goal performance after scoring our first goal of the day in the third match was a cradle dance celebrating the birth of our supervisor’s child (laughs).
