On April 1, despite overcast skies, SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP held its 2026 entrance ceremony amid cherry blossoms in full bloom 🌸

This year, the group welcomed 25 new graduate members, and senior members observing the ceremony appeared restless with excitement over these new encounters. Throughout the office, it seems that “fun commotion” is already beginning to stir.

The ceremony began with congratulatory messages from executives of each group company.

Opening the ceremony once again this year was Watanabe, Executive Vice President of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP.

“Today, in this warm weather with beautiful cherry blossoms in bloom, we are delighted to welcome you to our group.

Let us create ‘fun commotion’ together. Congratulations on joining us!”

Next was Xiqiao Liu, President and Representative Director of SUNNY SIDE UP and Director of BILCOM, Inc. Liu offered words of welcome from a unique perspective shaped by a career at the forefront of marketing.

“Congratulations on this occasion!

Today is your first day as working professionals, and I imagine you are all excited. The difference between working professionals and students is that professionals do not have set milestones like enrollment or graduation. What kind of professional life you lead from now on is entirely up to you.

When I first started working after graduation, I spent several months conducting market analysis. What I learned and experienced then is still useful today, but recently I tried having generative AI do the same thing, and it was completed in just five minutes.

We are now in the age of AI utilization. As you work within our group, please master the use of AI. However, what is ultimately needed is human capability. Make your own judgments, gain experiences, and use AI to further enhance your own abilities.

Communicate extensively with people both inside and outside the company, and make your professional life more enjoyable.”

Warm encouragement was also sent to the new graduate members—aspiring PR professionals—from Kamide, President and Representative Director of Steady Study, which specializes in PR and communication in the fashion and lifestyle sectors, as a senior who has long been involved in PR.

“Congratulations on joining us! We are very pleased to welcome you all.

As you work as professionals, there will be both enjoyable and difficult moments. Even when you encounter obstacles, there is something to be gained by continuing to overcome them.

PR and communication offer new discoveries the more you pursue them, even after decades. This is work that allows you to meet various people and expand your possibilities. I hope you will steadily advance while refining your sensibilities.

You have many colleagues—senior team members and peers. Let us work hard together from now on.”

Matsumoto, Director of SUNNY SIDE UP, conveyed the sentiments behind the traditional commemorative gift of our group.

“Welcome to SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP. We have been waiting for you. Every year we present fountain pens as commemorative gifts, and there is a reason for this.

Long ago, I heard from someone that ‘professionals who succeed treat their tools with care.’ So what is it that we, as professionals engaged in PR and communication, handle?

I believe it is ‘words.’ Everything we create begins with ‘words.’ From today, the ‘words’ you speak as PR professionals will surely have more influence than you imagine. That is why, like a fountain pen that cannot be erased once written and must wait to dry, I hope you will take pride and responsibility in your ‘words.’ This sentiment is embedded in the gift.

This year, we selected the ‘Legacy of Flight,’ just released this spring by Parker, a writing instrument brand with a Royal Warrant from the British Royal Family. Parker began 138 years ago with the realization that ‘we should be able to make a better pen that does not dirty the hands,’ and astonished the world with performances such as dropping a fountain pen from 3,000 feet to prove its durability. ‘Create facts and move the world with stories.’ This ‘fun commotion’ resides in this fountain pen.

The pattern engraved on the model we are presenting represents ‘flight paths’ drawn in the sky when there were no maps. With the intention of ‘charting your own future course,’ please create ‘fun commotion’ with your own words.”

Certificates of employment and commemorative gifts were presented by Tsugihara, President and Representative Director of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP. The executives could not help but smile at the fresh vitality of the new graduate members.

Next, three new graduate members representing their assigned companies gave greetings. Each expressed their unique vision and determination regarding “what they want to do at SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP and how they want to grow.”

Finally, the ceremony concluded with a congratulatory message from Tsugihara.

“Congratulations on joining us.

I am sincerely grateful to have met these 25 elite members who chose SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP among many companies. And as a parent, a business leader, and a working professional, I express deep respect to the parents and guardians who have cherished and raised you with love until today.

I believe you have accumulated countless efforts—studying, club activities, entrance examinations, and job hunting. This will not change going forward. In fact, this may be just the beginning.

People are creatures who want to grow no matter their age. Society, too, pursues evolution daily. Maintaining ambition within that context is what it means to work as a professional.

As other executives have mentioned, I hope you will become AI natives. However, as long as people continue to have human emotions—being moved by cherry blossoms, shedding tears at movies, laughing with friends, feeling happiness from delicious food—the work of PR and communication cannot be replaced by AI. Please continue to grow into increasingly human and charming individuals.

And I hope you will come to love your work and company, and become passionate about them. So that when you look back on your life someday, you will think it was a good one. And that your days at SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP will be part of that.
