A sneak peek at an in-house event: the office transformed into a Parisian market! In honor of Bastille Day, French brands gathered in one place in our office.
Bonjour! I’m Nicole from Social Relations Division 2. This is my third year with the company; I was born in Oregon, USA, and raised in Kobe.
Are you familiar with the commemorative day known as “Bastille Day”?
Also known as French National Day, July 14 each year is an important day for the French Republic, commemorating the Paris uprising that sparked the French Revolution. Military parades, concerts held at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, fireworks, and more… On the day, the entire city of Paris is filled with a festive atmosphere.
In honor of Bastille Day, fragrances and hair care brands from France handled by Effie International, for which SUNNY SIDE UP is in charge of PR, as well as bags and postcards sourced by buyers in Paris, all came together at the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP office. We held a “Bastille Day Marché,” where members enjoyed shopping!

This year, since it was Friday afternoon, many members enjoyed shopping in the office—treating themselves and picking up gifts for friends and family.

Crepes are also beloved in Japan, but did you know they actually originated in France? They are said to have been born in the Brittany region; because there was little sunshine and wheat was difficult to produce, people began producing buckwheat—this is said to be what sparked it.
In Japan, a widely held theory is that they started in Harajuku in the 1970s!
Sharing the top 3 most popular French brands and items among SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP members!
Here are the top 3 brands and items that were especially popular with members at this marché!
1) A tea-fragrance brand from Provence, France “Senteur et Beauté THE thé”
This tea-fragrance brand from Provence, France, was created from the desire to deliver soothing moments like tea time. It offers fragrance items designed to gently envelop everyday life and provide a comfortable, pleasant time.
Especially popular among new graduate members who had just started a new life—such as living alone—was the room diffuser with a fresh, translucent White Tea scent. THE thé packaging has a gender-neutral design, and the key point is that it looks luxurious while still being reasonably priced.

A premium olive oil from Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, a town in France’s Camargue. Just drizzle it on bread or salad and its aroma spreads, bringing out the deliciousness of the ingredients—an exceptional Extra Douce olive oil!

At SUNNY SIDE UP, we work hard every day to help many clients’ products and services become known to the world. One thing we especially value is having our own members learn about them first and creating fans from within.
Through these in-house events, we gather members’ opinions as everyday consumers and explore ways to enjoy the products—so that members themselves become fans. This, too, is an important part of our work.
These in-house events allow us to discover where each brand and item holds potential. It became a Bastille Day event where everyone could fully enjoy shopping and sweets as a reward for a week of hard work!
If any of the items we introduced caught your interest, please be sure to check them out.
