Learning Handwashing as a Family Through the Creation of One-of-a-Kind Personal Bottles! Introducing Lion Corporation’s Initiative, with Event Planning and Management by SUNNY SIDE UP
Hello! I am Sasamoto from the 5th Division of the Public Relations Headquarters at SUNNY SIDE UP. To date, I have been responsible for a wide range of projects from BtoC to BtoB, including Korean cosmetics events, apparel brand shop openings, and commercial facilities.
PR handled by SUNNY SIDE UP takes many forms. This time, I would like to introduce our collaboration with Lion Corporation, well-known for its mascot “Lion-chan,” where we were responsible for everything from event planning to management.
On August 19 and 20, toward the end of the summer holidays, we held a workshop-style educational event for parents and children at the Grand Tree Musashikosugi commercial facility in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The event was titled “Drawing Workshop: Let’s Create Your Own One-of-a-Kind Personal Bottle! ~Making Handwashing a Fun Daily Habit~.”
For this event, SUNNY SIDE UP proposed a venue from our past portfolio where many families visit, ensuring we could convey the importance of handwashing to as many children as possible. Now that the pandemic has stabilized and awareness of hygiene behavior is beginning to wane, the event was held with the hope that as many children as possible will once again be able to wash their hands spontaneously, enjoyably, and consistently.

Lion employees used a picture-story show format to explain the importance of handwashing in a way that was easy for young children to understand. As a catalyst for practicing handwashing at home, a workshop was held where participants created original labels for hand soap. This was followed by a commemorative photo session with their one-of-a-kind original hand soap bottles.
Nearly 200 parents and children participated in the workshop. Some families even rushed straight to the workshop as soon as the facility opened. It was so busy that a queue formed as soon as registration began.
Participants expressed their creativity in various ways, with designs featuring memories of the sea or festivals visited during summer vacation, or their favorite fruits. Seeing the children learning so vibrantly and happily, the venue was filled with smiles from start to finish.

They were completely focused on creating their own original labels!

From memories of summer to favorite summer fruits, the excitement is evident in their work.
We received many positive comments from participating families, such as “It was fun!”, “It became a great summer memory!”, “I thought we were washing our hands properly after coming home, but I want to review the process again,” and “I’ll make sure to wash my hands when I get home!”
SUNNY SIDE UP provides a wide range of support, not only in PR to make products widely known, but also in educational activities that explain why those products are necessary.
We will continue to introduce such initiatives on SUNNY DAYS, so please stay tuned. See you again soon!
