Hello! This is Sunny-chan!
Summer is gradually coming to an end, and I can smell autumn! While I was feeling a little sad that the classic summer events seem to be coming to an end without enough time to fully enjoy them, I have some happy news to share with you!
At the “PRWeek Asia Best Places to Work 2021” awards announced yesterday, co-sponsored by Campaign and PRWeek, the world’s leading PR trade publication, SUNNY SIDE UP won the Gold Award in the “Large Agency” category!

The awards were launched this year in the Asia-Pacific region as a new opportunity to recognize and celebrate the efforts and diversity of PR firms and in-house teams in the field of public relations and communications in creating a great place to work.
The SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP has long been committed to creating a better working environment for everyone. We are very happy to receive this award in the year following our office renovation, a major project we undertook to create a better environment as part of these efforts!
Here is a roundup of our efforts to create a better working environment!
Office Renovation
In November 2020, we completely renovated our Sendagaya office at our head office in order to implement a new way of working that is in line with the new era!
A “central kitchen” was placed in the center of the new office to create a safe place for members to interact offline. The office is also fully equipped for online meetings, which have increased with the spread of remote work. The new office, which can be flexibly adapted to suit each member’s work style, is often praised by visitors and has become a favorite space for members as well.

The new office filled with “fun and excitement” is finally completed! What is the whole picture of the office that realizes “fun” for each and every one of you? Hello, New Office!

32 BENEFITS
In 2011, when the term “work style reform” had not even been coined, SUNNY SIDE UP created its original benefit program, “32 BENEFITS,” based on the idea that “a fulfilling work life leads to a fulfilling personal life, and a fulfilling personal life leads to a better work life. We have introduced unique programs such as the “Love Chance Holiday,” “Heartbreak Holiday,” and “Family holiday,” as well as the “Happiness doesn’t walk away” program to promote health maintenance.
In addition, we have introduced the “Tanokin” system, which encourages employees to take “Premium Friday” and the “Happy Sunny Day”, which encourages employees to work outside the office and telecommute once a month in order to foster more free thinking. We are promoting the creation of an environmental system that allows for “flexible and diverse work styles” tailored to each member.

Establishment of work styles, environments, and systems that enable women to play an active role
▼Dear WOMAN System
▼In-house seminars on women’s health
In 2015, we were one of the first Japanese companies to start “subsidizing the cost of egg freezing to preservation”. By increasing the number of options for not only how to work but also how to live, we are backing up our efforts to enable women to live their own lives with more peace of mind. In addition, we regularly hold in-house seminars on women’s bodies in connection with this program. We make it an opportunity not only for women but also for male members to think about the bodies of their families and partners.

March 8 is International Women’s Day! An opportunity to think about women’s bodies and life plans through an in-house online seminar
▼ Premium Women’s Day
This is a program established by the United Nations in 1975 on March 8, International Women’s Day, to give women who work hard all the time a “little special Friday”! In many countries around the world, this day is widely known as “a day to think about women’s way of life and to express appreciation to women.
▼ Increasing the Percentage of Women in Management Positions
Although the number of female managers is still small, SUNNY SIDE UP has been able to achieve the national target of “30% female managers” as a company, with 31.2% as of February 2021. In order to raise this percentage, it is essential to reform the way we work and take time off to create an environment where it is easy to balance work and childbirth and child rearing. We will continue to promote an environment in which everyone can play an active role.
Enhancement of benefits that respect LGBTQ+
▼ Partnership System
This system was created based on the diversity concept of recognizing and respecting the diversity of our members. We recognize wedding and maternity gifts and marriage leave even in the case of same-sex marriages and de facto marriages.
▼ In-house seminar on LGBTQ+
SUNNY SIDE UPhas long supported projects such as “Tokyo Rainbow Pride” and “True Colors Festival – Super Diversity Art Festival,” for which SUNNY SIDE UP is in charge of PR. SUNNY SIDE UPhas been supporting “Tokyo Rainbow Pride” and “True Colors Festival – Super Diversity Art Festival,” for which we are in charge of PR.

Super Diversity! What is the project to recognize and enjoy every individuality, including disabilities, gender, and nationality?
Efforts to improve members’ skills
▼ Creation of PR manuals and publication of books
We created a manual that compiles all kinds of SUNNY SIDE UP PR knowledge to be used in training for new graduate and mid-career members. The manual was then edited and published as a book. It is now being used as a “basic guidebook” not only within the company, but by PR professionals everywhere!

Publication of the in-house manual! SUNNY SIDE UP‘s Hand-to-Foot PR,” a manual book containing most of Sunny Side Up’s operations, is now available!
In addition, we are working daily to improve the skills of our members through courses in our three-year plan to improve operational efficiency and seminars for managers.
Development of work style in line with the COVID-19 Disaster
▼ Vaccination leave
In April 2021, we introduced a new “Vaccination Leave System” among the “32 BENEFITS” introduced earlier! We have developed this as a benefit program so that members who wish to receive vaccinations can do so safely and without hesitation. In addition, in late June 2021, we are implementing a “job-based vaccination” program for entertainment industry workers.

I would like to take this award as an opportunity to further promote the “creation of an environment where each and every employee can work in his or her own way” in a way that is in line with the next generation, and to promote activities to become an “international role model company”.
