More Than Just Delicious! What Is “Miyazaki LFP,” the Project Boosting the Local Food Industry? Plus, Recommended Gourmet Foods from Miyazaki!
Hello, everyone! I am Masuga from Social Relations Department 1.
Did you know that in Miyazaki Prefecture, the prefectural government is leading a project for “sixth-sector industrialization,” where everything from production to processing and sales is linked?
In this article, we will introduce Miyazaki Prefecture’s activities aimed at “revitalizing regions and enriching them through the food business.”
What Is “Miyazaki LFP”?

First, LFP (Local Food Project) refers to a project where agricultural, forestry, and fishery workers (primary industry), food manufacturers (secondary industry), and food distributors and restaurants (tertiary industry) collaborate. By sharing their respective strengths to create new businesses utilizing local food resources, the project aims to solve social issues facing the region while simultaneously achieving economic benefits.
Miyazaki Prefecture is blessed with a warm climate, often referred to as “Hinata Miyazaki (The Sunny Side of Japan),” and is incredibly rich in food resources. Many people likely associate Miyazaki with various ingredients such as Miyazaki Beef, ripe mangoes, Hyuganatsu citrus, and skipjack tuna.
The “Miyazaki LFP Platform” was established to unearth these food resources and add even more value to them. In Miyazaki Prefecture, various stakeholders cooperate to develop new products and services, boosting the local food industry and working to enrich the region through food.
SUNNY SIDE UP provides multifaceted PR support alongside these Miyazaki businesses and the prefectural government, including organizing media tastings and presentations, creating press materials, and conducting on-site interviews with local operators.
Introducing Recommended Miyazaki LFP Gourmet Foods!!
This time, we will introduce three of our top recommended LFP gourmet items!
“Fish Meat” Using Underutilized Fish

Fish Meat was created from the desire to turn delicious Miyazaki fish that had previously gone unused into products that can be enjoyed at any time.
By mincing the fish, the project was able to solve common problems in creating processed goods, such as unstable catch volumes and the difficulty of processing inconsistent fish sizes.
This product replaces a portion of ground pork with fish meat. It is highly versatile, allows for various flavor arrangements, and has been well-received for its delicious taste that highlights the natural flavor of the fish.

“Zakuzaku Furikake” Using Local Agricultural and Livestock Products
Shintomi Town in Miyazaki Prefecture is rich in agricultural and livestock products, represented by green peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, and Koyu Beef. The development of this “Zakuzaku Furikake” (crunchy rice seasoning) was reportedly sparked by the fact that there were few processed goods that utilized the unique characteristics of these products.
By participating in Miyazaki LFP, the “Zakuzaku Furikake (Yakiniku Flavor / Carrot Skipjack Tuna Flavor)” was completed, designed to be enjoyed by a wide range of generations.

“Fuwari Tenshin” for Everyone from Children to the Elderly
Born from the desire to create a product that everyone from children to the elderly can enjoy, this item takes inspiration from Miyazaki’s new specialty, “gyoza.” It uses gluten-free rice flour from the prefecture to achieve a “fluffy” texture accessible to all.
This is a flagship product developed through repeated trial and error, including field research in Taiwan, which is facing an aging population similar to Japan.
