Hello. This is Sunny-chan from PR!

The other day, we held our “Poached Egg” morning meeting, where participants share the latest trends and hot topics that caught their attention. In this post, we will report on how it went!

To begin with, Poached Egg” is…
a very casual gathering where volunteer members from different departments and age groups come together to share recent news and trends they have been curious about, so everyone can “sound like they know it all!” The president also joins every time.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, this Poached Egg session was held using the online meeting system “Zoom,” with everyone participating from home!

Now then, among the topics that came up this time, we would like to introduce a few that stood out on the blog!

[Food Porn] Get Your Nutrients! Let’s whet your appetite with the hashtag “#CorporateOfficialFoodPornContest” and dig in!

With requests to refrain from going out, the food and beverage industry has taken a major hit… In an effort to lift the industry’s spirits in these circumstances, a movement seems to be gaining momentum in which companies such as restaurants and hotels post mouthwatering food photos and videos from their official accounts along with the hashtag “#企業公式メシテロ大会”!

When you actually search the hashtag, you will find many posts that stimulate the appetite—pizza, takoyaki, yakiniku, and more. In today’s lifestyle, where it is easy to become less active, it may be a bit dangerous…!? (LOL)

Once the COVID-19 situation settles down, it would be wonderful to go out and enjoy delicious food, with our support and appreciation in mind.

Make video conferences even more enjoyable with outfits and props

To avoid going out as much as possible, more meetings are being held online these days. One of the services often used in such situations, the online meeting system “Zoom,” has introduced ways to make meetings a little more fun.

Not only can you change your background, but if you also wear an outfit to match and strike a pose, you can create a high-quality video that makes it hard to believe you are at home!

It looks so fun that it might get a little too lively—so rather than meetings, it may be better suited to the currently popular “Zoom drinking parties”… (LOL)

“Dalgona coffee” you can make at home is trending in Korea

As more people are spending time at home, “dalgona coffee,” which lets you enjoy a café-like experience at home, has become a hot topic mainly among Korean internet users.

The secret to its popularity is a simple recipe using instant coffee and an authentic-looking finish!

The boom has spread overseas, and it seems many people in Japan are also enjoying their own at-home café experiences. You can see what it looks like on Instagram via the hashtag #dalgonacoffee, so please be sure to check it out!

Owner-chefs from famous restaurants in Paris, France are releasing easy recipe videos you can make at home—one after another!

Chefs from famous restaurants in Paris, France appear to be sharing recipe videos on social media and YouTube that are easy to try even for those who are not used to cooking.

The chefs are in the same situation as everyone else—suddenly finding themselves needing to refrain from going out. As a result, the cooking tools they normally use at home (surprisingly, many are quite down-to-earth!?) and readily available ingredients appear one after another. You might think dishes introduced by professional chefs would be too challenging… but these look like something you could actually make yourself!

Here, we will highlight and introduce two renowned chefs who are actually posting recipe videos!

• Mr. Massimo Bottura

A renowned Italian chef often described as one of the best in the world. He runs Osteria Francescana, a three-Michelin-star restaurant in Modena, Italy. He is also known for having taken first place twice in “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants,” and for being inducted into the hall of fame last year.

With the back-and-forth with the cameraman and Massimo’s cheerful personality, it is said to be enjoyable to watch.

• Mr. Taku Sekine

The owner-chef of the restaurant “Dersou” (Dersou), which opened in Paris in 2014. He is a Japanese chef drawing attention, having been selected as one of the best restaurants of 2016 by the French restaurant guide “Fooding.”

The dishes posted daily as photos all look delicious and make you want to try making them. It is also nice that there are recipes for Japanese dishes such as okonomiyaki and udon.

So, what did you think? With continued requests to refrain from going out due to the spread of COVID-19, a variety of topics came up again this time—centered on movements aimed at making time at home even a little more fulfilling.

And in the middle of the session, a member celebrating a special day joined in unexpectedly from the ward office together with their partner! They had just submitted their marriage registration and were waiting for it to be accepted. In response to the happy news, about 45 participants quickly made paper hearts to celebrate this major milestone in the couple’s lives.

In this way, being able to join easily and share the same time even with members who are not in the office is one of the great advantages of online meetings.

It was a heartwarming moment that brought comfort amid anxious days. Congratulations from the bottom of our hearts!

At next month’s Poached Egg, we hope we will be able to gather together in one room. Until then, all of us will continue to do our utmost to prevent the spread of infection.

Please look forward to the next report!
