SSU Informal Job Offer Ceremony Report [Part 2] ~Unveiling the “Main Event” Content!~
Hello. This is O from the Public Relations Group.
Following up from last time, I will report on our company’s recent informal job offer ceremony.
The informal job offer ceremony finally reached the time for the “main event” content, selected from numerous “fun informal job offer ceremony” proposals…
After the new employees’ presentations, the HR Director stood up with a solemn expression.
“We will now conduct SUNNY SIDE UP’s traditional ‘Betrothal Ceremony.’ A betrothal is a formal expression of a marriage promise. The new employees have promised at today’s informal job offer ceremony to join the SUNNY SIDE UP family in April. Therefore, at SUNNY SIDE UP, we conduct a ceremony in the form of a betrothal at the informal job offer ceremony. This is a traditional ceremony that has continued at SUNNY SIDE UP for over 30 years.”
First, the new employees were handed paper-wrapped “dried squid” and “kelp.”
The HR Director continued:
“Because the more you chew, the more flavor comes out, this contains our hope that you will become wonderful employees with depth. Now, please open the package and eat one piece of kelp.”
Munch munch… The smell of kelp filled the conference room.
Next, they were handed—believe it or not—a “raw egg”!
“SUNNY SIDE UP’s image logo is an ‘egg.’ This contains our hope that you will become big-shot employees who can devour an egg whole. Therefore, to help you become big shots, we ask you to drink this raw egg.”
Kelp was one thing, but a raw egg was really… Confusion appeared on the new employees’ faces.
“But it’s a company rule, so I have no choice but to eat it…”
Just as they brought the raw egg to their mouths with expressions that seemed to say this…

“As if that would happen!!!!”
With one call from President Tsugihara, relief and smiles appeared on the new employees’ faces.
(Some new employees who had caught on to the prank couldn’t hold back their laughter partway through)
This was the prank proposal called the Betrothal Ceremony. It may seem a bit flat in writing, but the atmosphere was filled with warm laughter at the time.
※By the way, the raw eggs were properly made into sunny-side up eggs after the ceremony and enjoyed deliciously.
Finally, President Tsugihara gave an address of instruction.
“How was the ‘Betrothal Ceremony’? This is a company where internal members put their heads together to come up with ideas for even a single informal job offer ceremony. SUNNY SIDE UP’s assets are the ideas and connections of each individual member.
The stimulating ‘points’ that members bring in daily connect to form new ‘lines.’ SUNNY SIDE UP is a collection of these many ‘lines.’ We want all of you to gather many ‘points’ as well. Please find your own ‘points’ with your own antennae. Let’s gather them, create even bigger ‘lines,’ and together create ‘fun excitement.'”

That concludes the series of events from this informal job offer ceremony.
Please warmly watch over what kind of ‘lines’ will emerge
from the ‘points’ that the new employees brought—things likely to trend in six months.
Until next time.
