What will be the next big thing? Introducing “Poached Egg,” where we share the trends our members have spotted and can’t stop thinking about!

Nice to meet you. My name is Murakami from the Human Resources Department.
I usually work in recruitment in the HR Department within the Administration Division.

This was my first time joining “Poached Egg,” and every topic participants brought was fascinating—truly inspiring!
With that, I would like to introduce a few of them!

① Leading the bread boom! The latest on coppe bread

It seems the bread boom is continuing this year. Among it all, what caught our attention this time was “coppe bread.”
Many of you may remember eating it in school lunches when you were in elementary school.
“Coppe bread from (Shoku) Morioka Seipan, Komae store” reportedly offers 25 varieties in total—ranging from classic kids’ meal fillings
to sandwiches made with Iwate’s specialty superfruit “sarunashi,”
and “Nanbu Ichiro pumpkin,” known for its sweetness with a sugar content of 15 degrees or more!
It feels nostalgic, yet it keeps evolving—so the possibilities of coppe bread are something to watch going forward!

② Trending in Sapporo! “Shime parfait” after drinks

“Shime parfait,” as the name suggests, is a parfait to finish off the day—after drinking, after a meal, and so on. Many people may think “shime means ramen,” but in Sapporo, Hokkaido, it has reportedly become a year-round staple to end the day with a cold, sweet parfait, regardless of the season. A parfait at night may feel a little different from one during café time! Among the Poached Egg members, there was even a hardcore participant who does “shime jingisukan” (lol).

③ Popular on Instagram: “#Follow me to”

“Follow me to” = “Come with me”

This is a photo series that has become a hot topic on Instagram, started by Russian photographer Murad and his model girlfriend, Natalia. It began by chance: when they visited Barcelona, Natalia got irritated that Murad was so absorbed in taking photos that she pulled him by the hand—and that is how this kind of photo was captured.
The #Follow me to photos open up stunning scenery from around the world that hardly looks real, making you feel as if you are on dates around the globe with her! In Japan, they have also been photographed in Akihabara in Sailor Moon cosplay and in the bamboo grove in Kyoto!

④ [TDC] Bubble Dance PV: Tomioka High School Dance Club (Tomioka Dance Club)

The bubble boom that was sparked by comedian Nola Hirano. Dancing sharply to nostalgic ’80s outfits and music are the members of the Tomioka High School Dance Club in Osaka!
It is not just entertaining—they are a highly skilled team, having won second place at the national finals of the 10th Japan High School Dance Club Championship (Dance Stadium).
It seems the costumes were borrowed from clothes their grandmothers used to wear. It is nostalgic, yet unlike any dance you have seen before—filled with the high school students’ passion for dance, and it draws you in more and more. The coach in charge of choreography is reportedly a Tomioka High School alumnus. Seeing seniors pass guidance on to juniors, as a former dance club member and coach, I found it truly moving.

⑤ Player Hasheem Thabeet Manka joins the basketball league “B.LEAGUE”

The Yokohama B-Corsairs, who compete in Japan’s basketball league “B.LEAGUE,” have signed an exceptionally “big” player! Hasheem Thabeet Manka is from Tanzania and stands an incredible 221 cm tall. Keep an eye on his performance in this season’s B.LEAGUE.

⑥ New York chef Jonah Reider, who drew a “4,000-person waitlist” since his student dayshttp://heapsmag.com/HEAPS-event-with-Jonah-Reider-young-freelance-chef-a-new-dining-experience-from-nyc-to-tokyo
Jonah Reider (23), who has been gaining popularity in New York, is a notable young freelance chef! He recently visited Japan and apparently held an event, driven by his desire to “offer dining experiences that restaurants cannot provide.”

⑦ High-quality “corporate idols” are on the rise!

Everyone appearing in this PV is a Credit Saison employee. Filming took place in Ikebukuro, Credit Saison’s home turf. Watching them dance in neat, modest uniforms is just like idols! Corporate idols—so new! Their debut song, “Watashi Saison,” had a clean, crystal-clear feel that reminded us of idol groups Nogizaka46 and Keyakizaka46. Be sure to check out the catchy choreography that you cannot help but want to imitate!

⑧ My own proverb dictionary
cached※From Twitter

Posted by marie(@izakayamarichan) and trending on Twitter, “My own proverb dictionary” was created by a girl and has become a hot topic. It includes proverbs that even we adults cannot help but relate to, such as “Tetsudai ga kokai ni kawaru (Helping turns into regret)” and “Kokyu keshouhin itteki zutsu (High-end cosmetics, one drop at a time).” It also features cute illustrations drawn by the girl who created it, and it seems to be sparking a storm of empathy among adults! We are looking forward to seeing more pages added!

⑨ Can you drink wine without opening the cork? “CORAVIN”

You want to have just one glass of wine… you want to try different kinds of wine…
However, once you open the cork, oxidation begins immediately upon contact with oxygen in the air and the fruitiness fades, so you need to finish it that day or plan to finish it within a few days. For wine lovers with this dilemma, here is a must-have wine item: “CORAVIN.”
It reportedly uses patented technology that allows you to pour wine from the bottle without cutting the capsule seal (foil) or removing the cork, by inserting a thin needle into the cork. It has only just begun official import into Japan as of April 2017, so it is not yet widespread here, but it seems likely we will see it more often in restaurants and at home going forward!

That is all for this time!
It was such a fun and inspiring morning that I would like to join again next time!

Thank you very much!
