Participation in the “W society” project to design women’s activities! Awareness campaign to learn about one’s own “body” also started 🍳
Hello, this is Iguchi from the Social Good Promotion Office🍃
I know this is sudden, but the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP is moving like crazy right now!
On August 30, we started recruiting for Social Good Ventures (CVC), and on September 13, we launched our new company, Good&Co., Inc.
Under the slogan of “Do something, even one thing”, the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP will continue to support and promote SDGs and social good initiatives ✊
And today, September 21(Tuesday), we launched “W society,” a project to design women’s activities from the two aspects of psychosomatic issues(W) and social issues (society)! We, the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, are also participating in this social participation project, which is a cross-business, industry-government-academia collaboration.

Launch of “W society,” a project to design women’s activities from the perspectives of both mental and physical issues(W) and social issues(society)
It has been about two months since I joined this project in July, and every day I am amazed at how much I still don’t know about my own body.
I would like to introduce some of the surprising data and aspects of society that I (she/her), 23 years old, have learned about women in my own life✏️
❶ Japan’s Gender Gap Index is surprisingly low!
According to a survey, Japan ranks 120th out of 156 countries in the “Gender Gap Index” (published by the World Economic Forum in 2021).
When you think of the worst 37th/156 countries, sadly, there is only room for growth… When I was a kid, I used to always wonder why people like to talk about love but think of talks about sex and sexuality as something taboo, but now that I am a working adult, even though I do feel this sense of update in values among my friends of the same age about sexual topics, I feel that there hasn’t been too much of a change as my parents’ generation.
For example, I added (she/her) to my profile earlier, but does anyone know what this means?
The correct answer is pronoun, a style of self-presentation of self-identification and other-identification that is becoming more prevalent among LGBTQ+ people.
It is a pronoun that has become popular and established in the West since 2018. Common examples include “she/her” used for people whose own gender identity and gender expression is female, “he/him” used for people who are male, and “they/them” used for non-binary people and others who do not fit into the framework of female or male.
It is important to start by understanding the various forms of gender, and to reduce the Gender GAP in order to live joyfully and with respect for each other 🌱
➋Japan is the world’s leading country for infertility treatment! Japan ranks first in the world in the number of IVF procedures performed.
According to a survey, Japan is the world’s leading country for IVF treatment, with more than 450,000 IVF procedures performed annually. This is about twice as many as in the U.S., yet the birth rate is less than half that of the U.S.
While Japan is said to have the world’s best treatment technology, it is also a society where the “range of life plan options” are often unintentionally limited.
In fact, there is a test called the AMH test* that can tell you how many eggs you have left just by taking a blood sample. You may wonder, what do you mean by “remaining eggs”?.
*Anti-Mullerian tubular hormone test: a blood test that reflects the ovarian reserve capacity (approximate number of follicles remaining in the ovaries).
Yes, in fact, women have the most eggs when they are born, and from that point on, the number of eggs does not increase as they get older…! (I wish I had learned it in health class…)
SUNNY SIDE UP is said to be the first private company in Japan to offer an egg freezing assistance program as a benefit, and with more than half of its members being women, the company has gained an image as a good place for women to work. Since the company is also involved in a number of PR activities related to the FemTech business, there is a lot of new information about body concerns and health checkups flying around within the company.
Even so, there is a big difference in my awareness of the AMH test before and after I learned of its existence. If I could know the time limit of my eggs by estimation, I might want to be like this in two years…it gave me a chance to think about my future life plan.
❸One out of every 14 Japanese is born through in vitro fertilization!
According to the Yomiuri Newspaper, about one in three children in the class of 40 is born through in vitro fertilization.
There are also people around me who have experienced birth in styles that are considered new, such as painless delivery and underwater delivery.
Pros and cons aside, for me personally, I am beginning to shift my thinking to the idea that giving birth with an aching belly and breastfeeding may not be everything…I would be happy if I could grow up with my child in a healthier way rather than cutting myself short….
As for menstruation, recently there have been more options besides sanitary napkins, such as tampons, menstrual cups, Mirena pills, and absorbent panties… There may be other options for pregnancy, childbirth, working, and balancing work and family that I am not even aware of yet…!
I am a little excited about such future 🤝
Aiming for a society where all women can live a satisfying and fulfilling lifestyle.
Under the auspices of Keidanren, which endorses this mission, the W society Executive Committee will work with members who have come together across companies such as Roche Diagnostics International Ltd, one of the world’s leading biotech companies actively involved in AHM testing, Panasonic System Solutions Japan Co., and Unilever Japan Holdings Co., Ltd.
The first project of interest is “egg week,” a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of health screenings based on the theme of knowing “what’s going on with my body now.
