Paramount+, the subscription streaming service from Paramount Pictures—the studio behind classics like “Top Gun,” “Transformers,” and “Roman Holiday”—has finally arrived in Japan! Our PR representative shares highlights from the media launch event.
Hello, everyone! I am Takahashi from the 3rd Department of the Social Relations Bureau at the Public Relations Business Division.
I am sure many of you have seen films like “Top Gun,” “Mission: Impossible,” “Transformers,” or “Roman Holiday” at least once.
Paramount+, the subscription streaming service from Paramount Pictures, the studio responsible for these masterpieces, made its Japanese debut on December 1! SUNNY SIDE UP was in charge of event production and PR consulting.
Highlights from the Media Launch Event

At the media launch event held on December 6 at Kanda Myojin in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Marco Nobili, Executive Vice President and International General Manager of Paramount+ International Markets, provided an overview of the Paramount+ service.
He stated, “We have prepared even more of the world’s strongest and most popular content,” and announced the exclusive distribution of the latest episodes of various popular titles. Following this, a talk session was held with representatives from partner companies: Mr. Satoshi Haga, Chairman and Representative Director of JCOM Co., Ltd., and Mr. Akira Tanaka, Representative Director and President and Executive Officer of WOWOW Inc.

The event featured actor Sayaka Akimoto, making her first public appearance after giving birth; comedian Koga Ken, who is active in the film industry with Hollywood movie impressions; and ★Taku Takahashi (m-flo / block.fm), a huge fan of Star Trek!

Sayaka Akimoto, who has experience appearing in Hollywood films, spoke about the latest Paramount+ series, “Tulsa King.” She shared how she looks forward to the service as a daily treat, saying, “It was so interesting that I wanted to binge-watch it, but I’ve saved some episodes to watch one by one as a reward at the end of the day.” Having recently given birth to her first child, she also mentioned with a smile that she would like to watch “SpongeBob SquarePants” in the future, partly for English language learning.
Comedian Koga Ken, a long-time fan of Paramount+ works, performed a niche impression of Tom Cruise. He delighted the audience with a comical performance unique to a true movie buff, capturing “the facial expression when you realize halfway through that you’re being insulted when you thought you were being praised.”
Furthermore, Star Trek fan ★Taku Takahashi commented, “I want them to hold events that viewers can enjoy,” expressing his strong desire for a Star Trek watch party.
SUNNY SIDE UP Supports Event Production and PR
SUNNY SIDE UP, which handled the event production and PR consulting for this project, was tasked with the mission of creating a launch announcement that would establish a strong presence amidst a crowded field of competing streaming services.
To convey the narrative of “The Great Paramount+ is coming to Japan!”—evoking the image of the historic “Blue Ships” arrival—we incorporated the idea of lighting up the main hall of Kanda Myojin in Paramount Blue.
As a result, we were able to maximize the presence of Paramount+ and generate a significant response for the launch.
