A Heated Race in Marunouchi! SUNNY SIDE UP Competes in the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Tokyo!
Hello, this is PR Sunny-chan!
Last week’s Premium Friday saw the “Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Tokyo” held in Marunouchi, Tokyo!
This is a corporate relay-style running event where teams of 10 people each run 1.6 km through the streets of the Marunouchi business district!
Marunouchi usually has a calm atmosphere with business professionals coming and going, but on this day, the area around Nakadori and the Marunouchi Building became the stage for a heated race as participating companies and organizations competed for the title of Tokyo’s fastest company!
The course appeared on Nakadori!
Inspiring messages were everywhere!
By the time Sunny-chan arrived at the venue, some runners were already warming up and in battle mode! Everyone was serious!
For the fourth Premium Friday, the Premium Friday Secretariat and the Japan Sports Agency collaborated to promote Premium “Sports” Friday under the theme “Let’s Enjoy Sports,” and this event was held as the highlight. Being Premium “Sports” Friday, 55 teams and 550 people from domestic and international companies and organizations participated!
To enjoy Premium “Sports” Friday, SUNNY SIDE UP members, including President Tsugihara, participated in the race!

We entered two teams: “Team Led by President Tsugihara” and “Team Led by Vice President Watanabe.”
These were mixed teams consisting of executives, group company members, active members from various departments, and new graduates who joined in April.
President Tsugihara was highly motivated, wearing the matching T-shirt!
We were a bit worried because she mentioned being full from a lunch meeting… (sweat)
The first runners were the President and Vice President Watanabe, but…
They aren’t there… (laughs)
Oh, there they are!
They started the race by following from the back of the pack!
Incidentally, a team from the Japan Sports Agency also participated, and Commissioner Daichi Suzuki ran as the first runner!
The Vice President’s team took a slight lead during the first leg, but President Tsugihara’s team took the lead during the second leg.
After that, everyone passed the baton smoothly.

The baton was passed from executives to new employees, and then to the next…
Members who finished running cheered and supported others, and everyone called out to each other when passing the baton. Members who don’t usually interact in daily work communicated with each other, and by the end of the race, the team bond had deepened!
It wasn’t just about challenging one’s limits; the bond gained by sweating together with colleagues, the sense of accomplishment, and the moving moments that are the true essence of sports were all right here!!
Above all, everyone looked like they were having so much fun!

The baton was successfully passed to the finish line!

The Bloomberg Speed Team won with a time of 58 minutes and 49 seconds!
The “FASTEST MIXED TEAM” was the adidas Japan team.
(Running time: 1 hour 2 minutes 13 seconds)
While SUNNY SIDE UP was nowhere near the top teams, everyone ran through to the end without giving up!
「1.6kmは、長距離でも短距離でもない距離なのでペース配分が難しかった」とか、
「かなりハードだった・・・」
と言いつつも、走り終えたメンバーはみんな笑顔でいい顔をしていました!

In addition to the unity within the teams, members who didn’t participate in the race also came to cheer, and the entire company enjoyed the “Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Tokyo”!
At the after-party following the race, everyone enjoyed Premium “Sports” Friday by deepening interactions within their teams and with other participating companies!
SUNNY SIDE UP’s slogan, “Let’s Have Fun!”, has been realized because of colleagues who always create a “fun stir.” Participating in the “Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Tokyo” helped deepen our bonds as a company and served as the ultimate team-building exercise!
The sense of accomplishment and the bonds with colleagues created here will surely be applied to our daily work!
Please look forward to more of SUNNY SIDE UP’s “fun stirs” in the future!
