Produced by Hidetoshi Nakata! Event Report on “CRAFT SAKE WEEK” Where You Can Fully Experience the Appeal of Japanese Sake!

Hello! This is Kawamura from the Public Relations Group.

Now, “CRAFT SAKE WEEK at ROPPONGI HILLS 2018” has arrived again this year!
It is being held from Friday, April 20 to Monday, April 30 (national holiday). (Daily 12:00–21:00 / L.O. 20:30)

This time, a record-breaking 110 sake breweries from all 47 prefectures across Japan have gathered at Roppongi Hills Arena!

Since you can try various Japanese sakes at once, it can be enjoyed not only by sake enthusiasts but also by beginners.

This event, made possible only through the production of Hidetoshi Nakata who has visited over 300 sake breweries across Japan, was bustling with many people seeking delicious Japanese sake on this day as well!

Being able to hear the stories behind Japanese sake that you normally wouldn’t know is also part of this event’s appeal!

And what’s essential with Japanese sake is delicious food.
What I, having worked up an appetite, immediately enjoyed was a menu from the French restaurant “ESqUISSE.”

A menu carefully conceived around the theme of fermentation, just like Japanese sake. As expected from a distinguished restaurant.

The roasted Iberico pork is incredibly juicy!
After that, I took a hearty sip of Japanese sake and savored “French cuisine × Japanese sake.”

While pairing Japanese sake with Japanese cuisine is standard, it goes wonderfully well with French cuisine too! A new discovery.

Various renowned restaurants provide special menus that pair well with Japanese sake during different periods, so you can enjoy them with a variety of dishes.
※”ESqUISSE” dishes will be available until Tuesday, April 24.
The participating restaurants will change from Wednesday, April 25, so please check the website for details.

Last year it was cherry blossoms, but this year’s installation is bamboo!

A bamboo corridor using 500 moso bamboo stalks is installed surrounding the venue, creating an installation where you can enjoy “the splendor of Japanese culture.”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhen you see it up close, it’s truly impressive!

The bamboo seen in Roppongi is very grand, and I felt anew the beauty of nature and Japanese culture.

“CRAFT SAKE WEEK” continues for a while longer.
Why not fully enjoy Japan’s proud “SAKE” culture?
