Starting with “one thing we can do, even in the office”! GO GREEN PROJECT launches to gently encourage sustainability initiatives for companies and individuals!

By the way, are you familiar with Global Goals Week, held every September?

Global Goals Week is approximately one week centered around September 25, the date when the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) were adopted at the UN General Assembly in 2015. It is an event held worldwide to promote awareness and behavioral change related to the SDGs.

In conjunction with the 2021 event period from Friday, September 17, 2021 to Sunday, September 26, 2021, we decided to launch the GO GREEN PROJECT within SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP as an initiative for all members to engage with the SDGs and raise awareness!

GO GREEN PROJECT has launched as a project to “gently encourage” sustainability initiatives for companies and individuals. As the first initiative of the project, we announced the sustainability activities practiced at our head office as “8 Action Lists.” Each action has been compiled as pictogram materials and made available for free download on our website for use by other companies as well.

Today, we’d like to introduce some of the “green initiatives” we’re implementing in our office!

[Use of Environmentally Friendly Detergents]

The central kitchen has a shared sink where everyone washes their own cups and plates after lunch or at the end of the workday. We’ve switched the detergent that many members use daily to an eco-friendly option!

In our office, we use a product called ecover. Ecover bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic that can be recycled. Simply making eco-friendly choices for items we use every day indirectly protects a great deal of nature.

[Original Tumblers]

SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP has created original tumblers! They are items that play an active role as personal bottles during daily work time.

In recent years, reducing plastic waste to preserve the global environment has become a social issue, and personal bottles are one of the items attracting attention worldwide. Beyond contributing to eliminating plastic, there are many benefits, such as receiving discounts at stores and enjoying drinks at the perfect temperature—just like at a café—thanks to the heat and cold retention functions of the bottles! At SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, we sell tumblers with our office logo that aren’t available in stores, and they have become beloved items among our members.

[Shared Umbrellas]

Many people have had the experience of reluctantly purchasing an umbrella due to sudden rain. Buying an umbrella when you already have one at home is a wasteful purchase. In the GO GREEN PROJECT, we use umbrellas donated by those who have many or umbrellas that can still be used as “shared umbrellas.” The system involves marking the umbrellas and sharing them among everyone. Even if it suddenly rains, you can get through it without feeling upset. It’s an eco-friendly initiative that’s kind to both your wallet and the planet.

How was that? Today we introduced three eco-friendly activities taking place in our office. The GO GREEN PROJECT is planning many more “eco-friendly initiatives”!

Achieving the SDGs cannot be accomplished through the activities of a single company alone. Through the “GO GREEN PROJECT,” we want to contribute to achieving the SDGs beyond corporate boundaries and advance activities to build a society that “leaves no one behind”!
