Baskin-Robbins’ latest creations! A tasting report on limited-edition flavors—from Harry Potter to Halloween

Baskin-Robbins is the kind of place you can’t help but stop by when you spot it after eating out. It is always appealing, no matter the season.

With more than 1,300 original flavors, it is always exciting to look forward to seasonal offerings and new monthly releases. This time, we are reporting on a new-product tasting event held at the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP office.🍦

In addition to enjoying them at home, new items perfect for gifts—especially welcome in the coming season—have also been introduced!

The venue for the tasting event was the “Central Kitchen,” located right in the heart of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP’s Sendagaya office.🍳

It reflects the desire to make this office a branding hub that brings together people and ideas—just as ingredients and chefs gather from around the world to create outstanding cuisine—and to generate new “fun commotion.”

Team members also use it to study the PR projects they are in charge of and the latest trending items together.💭

Experience the magical world of “Harry Potter” through ice cream?!

Beloved across books, films, stage productions, and theme parks, “Harry Potter” has captivated audiences in many forms. I have always admired the sweets that appear in the story.☺️

At Baskin-Robbins, the brand’s first collaboration with “Harry Potter” was launched over two consecutive months, November–December 2023.🪄The first release features many items inspired by the four Hogwarts houses!

This is “Hogwarts House Delight.” If you see the four colors mixed into the ice cream, some of you may immediately recognize them—Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw,and Slytherin—represented as crunchy candies. The base flavor is milk tea, inspired by the U.K., where the story is set.🫖The calm tea flavor is accented with a caramel ribbon, making it a favorite for both children and adults. Comments included, “The colors are so cute!” and “The crunchy candy is fun!”

The nine-piece takeout box “Harry Potter Trunk Set” (Small: suggested price ¥2,920 / Regular: suggested price ¥3,910), which includes “Hogwarts House Delight,” is served in special cups and also comes with two original spoons and a Sorting Hat sticker (one random design from the four houses). Fans will love it!

In addition, if you order a double, it is served in a “Harry Potter” original-design cup. You can choose from two types: “Gryffindor&Ravenclaw”or “Slytherin&Hufflepuff.” Even if you usually prefer a cone, this is the time you will want to choose a cup.

Sundaes are just as exciting, including the “Sorting Sundae” (suggested price ¥570) topped with Sorting Hat chocolate, and the “Harry Potter Sundae” (suggested price ¥1,100) topped with cookies and chocolate inspired by the series. Be sure to check them out in store!

At the tasting event, ice cream cakes that liven up party occasions were also introduced.🍰

The “Harry Potter Ice Cream Cake,” featuring adorable Hedwig, immediately catches the eye. Look closely and you will also find Harry’s lightning-bolt scar, a Hogwarts acceptance letter, and Gryffindor-colored stars. The glasses pick can be decorated and set however you like, making it fun to personalize.⭐️The flavor is “Caramel Ribbon × Chocolate with Dark Choco Bits.”

Cheers erupted: “They say it is a flavor exclusive to this cake—and it is so delicious!”😊The cake board also features an original design, letting you immerse yourself even more in the world.

A treat for yourself or a gift! “Petit Cake” in a delightfully convenient size.

Now, when it comes to ice cream cakes, many people may associate them with celebrations and parties. Since I was born in summer, I often request one for my birthday cake.🥰I had been wishing for a size that is easier to enjoy more casually—and then, the perfect product arrived.🎊

The newly released square ice cream cake “Petit Cake” comes in two varieties: “Brown” and “White.” “Brown” features flavors you can only enjoy in this set, while “White” combines popular flavors. Each flavor is pre-cut, so there is no need to slice—making it easy to serve. You can also add an original insulated bag as an option, so carrying it around is worry-free.

First is the chic-packaged “Brown.” From the top left, moving clockwise: “Jamoca Almond Fudge,” coffee ice cream brewed from two types of beans with chocolate and almonds; “Raspberry × White Chocolate with Dark Choco Bits,” with choco bits as an accent; “Chopped Chocolate × Chocolate,” combining two chocolate ice creams; and “Matcha with Caramel Ribbon,” based on richly aromatic matcha. It is a sophisticated set with a subtly bitter taste.☕️

The bright and pop “White” features, from the top left moving clockwise, a lineup of star players that needs no introduction: “Caramel Ribbon,” “Chopped Chocolate,” “Popping Shower,” and “Very Berry Strawberry.” They are familiar flavors, but presented in a different way that lifts your mood. It is a set that will please anyone. I want to dash out and buy one as soon as I finish work.😆

Halloween is almost here! Do not miss these fun, surprise-filled items.

The tasting event felt just like an ice cream party.🎉And for this season, it has to be the “Okashina Okashina Halloween,” now in its third year. The four people pictured are also enjoying this series.

In the foreground is this year’s new flavor, “Funky Franken.” It combines chocolate ice cream, pistachio-flavored ice cream, caramel ribbon, and cookies for a very Halloween-like color palette. Also recommended are “Witch’s Trick” (far right), with surprising reversed colors—purple tastes like red apple and red tastes like grape; “Ghost World” (upper center), combining dark, night-inspired chocolate ice cream with a ghostly white marshmallow flavor; and “Vampire’s Snack” (far left), made with bright red blood orange sorbet.

They enjoyed each one, saying, “With ‘Witch’s Trick,’ the gap between the look and the taste is exciting from the very first bite!” and “With ‘Vampire’s Snack,’ it is refreshing and creamy, so one is more than satisfying!”😀😋

Another item that drew comments like “We want to enjoy this together!” was the eat-in-only “Big Party Sundae.” Choose four flavors of your favorite pop scoops, and it is topped with rainbow marshmallows and black cones. It even includes soy sauce–flavored popcorn. It is a dish that keeps the excitement going.

Halloween events will also be held in store. On Monday, October 30 and Tuesday, October 31, 2023, children can receive one candy by saying “Trick or treat” to the staff.🍬Be sure to stop by!
