A fantastical night in Kyoto! The special event “NAKED Yoru Moude 2022 at Heian Shrine” from “NAKED GARDEN ONE KYOTO” is being held again this year!

It is already mid-December, and the city is fully illuminated and filled with Christmas spirit—how have you been?
This time, we will introduce a project that brings Kyoto together, produced by the creative company NAKED, INC. (NAKED), known for numerous immersive productions nationwide, including projection mapping on the Marunouchi Station Building at Tokyo Station.
“NAKED GARDEN ONE KYOTO” is a next-generation art project that can be enjoyed both at real event venues and in the metaverse, using historic structures such as castles, shrines, and temples in Kyoto as stages, in collaboration with Kyoto City, Uji City, and Otsu City in Shiga Prefecture. It began with the “DANDELION PROJECT” held in front of the main building of Kyoto City Hall on September 15, and events are being held in various locations through Sunday, December 25. This time,we will focus on and report on the special event currently being held at Heian Shrine, “NAKED Yoru Moude 2022 at Heian Shrine,”.
Tokyo: Kanda Myojin Shrine “NAKED Sakura Moude” (2022)
The “NAKED Distance Lantern®,” which enables visitors to worship safely and securely while maintaining social distance from other groups, has also been adapted for Yoru Moude. By strolling around Heian Shrine with a lantern in hand, you can feel as though you are participating as part of the art itself, and enjoy an experience unlike the usual visit.
The art project “DANDELION PROJECT” by artist Ryotaro Muramatsu, which blooms flowers—a symbol of peace—around the world, appears at Heian Shrine’s iconic Daigokuden Hall.
The art project “DANDELION PROJECT” by artist Ryotaro Muramatsu involves planting (installing) dandelion art objects, “DANDELION,” in locations around the world to make flowers—a symbol of peace—bloom worldwide. At this year’s Yoru Moude, “DANDELION” appears at Daigokuden Hall. This breathtaking art experience—where flowers filled with prayers for peace spread from Daigokuden, an icon of Heian Shrine and an Important Cultural Property, out into the world—is one of the event’s highlights. The dynamic scene is sure to leave you in awe.
NAKED Distance Lantern®
In addition, at Higashi Shin’en Garden, there is the interactive art “Taiheikaku Interaction,” where lanterns decorating the Taiheikaku corridor change in sync with the “NAKED Distance Lantern®,” as well as a beautiful projection mapping show on Shobikan, a scenic spot of Heian Shrine that stands to the west of Seihoike Pond, reflected on the water’s surface. You will be thoroughly captivated by the collaboration between Heian Shrine at night and art.

Enjoy Heian Shrine this year in both the real world and the metaverse
This year, in addition to the real Heian Shrine, a new Metaverse Heian Shrine has also been created. In the metaverse, you can even enjoy a kimono fashion show. Those who cannot visit in person can watch the show, while those who do visit Heian Shrine can appear in the show with their own avatar. By entering the invitation code distributed on-site and creating an avatar with your own face, you can have the rare experience of walking the runway wearing a kimono created in collaboration with renowned Japanese kimono designer Jotaro Saito. Please take this opportunity to visit Heian Shrine in the metaverse as well.
