Hello! I’m Iizuka from the Sports Department of the Public Relations Division 3. I’m a first year new graduate who joined this company in April 2022.

This is a sudden question, but do you exercise on a regular basis?

I often hear people say, “I can’t keep it up” or “I know I have to do it, but…..”
Finding time to exercise or going to the gym can be harder than you expect.

Many of you have probably thought to yourself, “I wish I could exercise quickly and efficiently.”

Well, I have good news for you! There is a service that has all three of these things: exercise whenever you want to, in a short time, and efficiently! Isn’t this a dream come true!

It is called SIXPAD HOME GYM! This time, I have experienced this service with our members, and I would like to share the experience with you.

What is SIXPAD HOME GYM?

First of all, what is SIXPAD HOME GYM (SHG)? Here is a brief introduction to the service!

You can train at home whenever you want, in a short time and with high efficiency! This is the feature of SHG.

You may be thinking, “How is that possible?” or “That’s too good to be true!.” What makes this possible is the EMS (Electro Muscular Stimulation), a technology that “stimulates muscles with electricity.”

By wearing the Power Suit, a suit with electrodes attached to 14 areas of the body, the entire body muscle can be approached simultaneously through EMS. For example, if EMS is used in conjunction with aerobic exercise on a bike, one can simultaneously train not only the lower body but also the upper body, such as the abdominal muscles, with EMS while performing aerobic exercise. This is truly a dream come true!

SHG’s lessons can be easily taken online at home using an app, but you can actually take lessons at the live studio in Harajuku exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays. This time, our members visited the studio to try out the lessons!

Let’s go to the studio!

With a 3-minute walk from Meiji-jingumae Station, we arrived at “SIXPAD LIVE STUDIO Harajuku“!

Going down the stairs, I was greeted by a staff member at the stylish front desk with glowing orange lighting.

I quickly changed into my Powersuit and headed to the studio where I would take lessons. This is what the inside of the studio looks like.

Stylish, modern lighting and decor that surely motivates you!

All the members were waiting excitedly for the lesson to start.

Finally, the training begins!

At SHG, you will be supported in your training by a unique instructor called WAVER. The content of training varies, and you can choose which part of the body you want to train and the intensity of the training. On this day, I experienced SHG’s most famous menu, which offers well-balanced “whole body” training.

The training is 2 sets of 10 minutes each, and the training can be completed in about 30 minutes, including intervals. Even busy people who cannot work out every day can train during their spare time!

The person who will be supporting our training is ENA from WAVER. After some light stretching, it’s time to start training!

Impressed with our first EMS!

As soon as the training started, EMS began to flow from my power suit. The members who experienced EMS for the first time were surely surprised! There are 20 levels of EMS and you can choose the intensity that suits you best.

Now for the first set!

We started with squats, and I was surprised to find that the EMS stimulates the body not in a constant rhythm, but in a rhythm that is linked to the body movements….

Furthermore, the music and the graphics in the background of the WAVER are linked to the training movements, so you can sense when to move, and even beginners are able to get a hand of the training.

Next is the body twisting movement. When you twist your body, you will feel the stimulation of the EMS on your stomach. It is good to know which part of the body you are working out. This movement was the hardest for me….

You also get advice such as “It’s OK to kneel down if you want to!” from time to time which is a relief!

The last pose is the one shown here. This is the end of the first set.

It was only 10 minutes, but I was sweating and felt the effects of EMS. After a break, we rehydrated and caught our breath. With a lecture on breathing by ENA, we relaxed for a short while. For the next second set, I tried a slightly higher EMS level 💪

I raised the level and pushed myself!

The second set, in which I raised the EMS level from 7 to 14, was so hard and made me surprised that just by raising the EMS level it would make “such a difference….”

The members also had this look on their faces lol

Instructor ENA kept encouraging us when we had the expressions of giving up. I realized unlike training alone in silence, when someone says to you “One more time!,” it makes it a lot easier to keep going and to not give up!

We all managed to finish the second set together! As a commemoration of our hard work, we took a photo with instructor ENA.

Masks were removed only when the photo was taken

Although it was my first time incorporating EMS in exercise, I was surprised I got used to the stimulation of EMS before I even realized. Unlike training with weights or machines, it is less stressful on the joints and other parts of the body, so I recommend it for beginners and women who want to train their body.

I was able to experience it at the studio this time, but it is also good that you can take lessons “anytime and easily” at home. The official app also allows users to compete with others based on their scores during training, so connecting with others online is sure to increase motivation💪

For people who thought “I want to try it!”, please take a look at their official website and SNS!
