Speaking of SUNNY SIDE UP, there are many areas in which we excel, such as corporate PR, facility PR, and entertainment events, but we also excel in “local PR!”

Local PR is communicating the attractiveness of local regions to the rest of the country. We do this by teaming up with local governments and local businesses to uncover local attractions and spread information through the media.

This time, we would like to dive deeper into the charms of Miyazaki Beef, which a member of our editorial team came across during the Miyazaki Prefecture Gourmet Information Dissemination Project.

We started this project with a passionate desire to let as many people as possible know about Miyazaki Beef, which is simply too delicious to not know of, and if possible, to eat Miyazaki Beef ourselves.

We took the members of our team who agreed to participate in this project and conducted an actual food report.

But first, let me introduce Miyazaki Prefecture

Miyazaki Prefecture is a tropical prefecture with a mild climate and abundant sunshine, as it is called “Miyazaki Prefecture in the Hinata (sunlight) of Japan.” The climate is amazing, the food is delicious, and the people are kind and warm. It is such an attractive place that I would like to live there after I retire. Because of its warm climate and fertile land, Miyazaki Prefecture is also known as the “Livestock Kingdom Miyazaki,” where Miyazaki Beef, Japan’s highest grade of Wagyu beef, is raised.

Now, back to the Miyazaki Beef

There are many brands of beef in Japan, but let me explain why Miyazaki Beef is the best Wagyu beef in Japan out of all the Wagyu beef breeds!

The “National Wagyu Proficiency Show,” held once every five years, is commonly referred to as the “Olympics of Wagyu,” where excellent Wagyu cattle from all over Japan gather to compete with each other in terms of their improvement results and breeding management techniques. There are two categories: the “Breed Category,” in which bulls and females are judged on their body shape, etc., and the “Beef Category,” in which their meat quality is judged. The highest award in each division is the “Prime Minister’s Award,” and only after winning this award can a cow be awarded the title of Japan’s best Wagyu.

Miyazaki beef has been awarded the “Prime Minister’s Prize” in four consecutive competitions: the 9th Tottori Competition (both Breed and Beef Category), the 10th Nagasaki Competition (Breed Category), the 11th Miyagi Competition (Beef Division), and the 12th Kagoshima Competition (Beef Category). Miyazaki Beef has firmly established its position in the industry.

In other words, they are the No.1 beef in Japan recognized by the national government! Their outstanding performance over the past 20 years is also a surprise compared to Samurai Japan, which has won the WBC (World Baseball Classic) three times in the past five tournaments, haha.

Here we are!

Miyazaki Fudo Kuwanne” is located on the second floor of Shinjuku Miyazaki Kan KONNE, a convenient one-minute walk from the south exit of Shinjuku Station!

At “Miyazaki Fudo Kuwanne,” you can enjoy Miyazaki Prefecture’s local cuisine, which uses plenty of seasonal ingredients from Miyazaki Prefecture, as well as beer and shochu made in Miyazaki Prefecture.

In particular, the sweet soy sauce itself, from Miyazaki Prefecture that comes with the sashimi, is so good that it can be a side dish to accompany alcohol!

The editors cannot hide their excitement over the gorgeous “Toji Junpei.”

The “Shinjuku Miyazaki Kan KONNE” antenna store on the first floor sells seasonings and foods that are only sold there, making it an attractive place to purchase items you gained interest in while dining at the restaurant.

Here comes the Miyazaki Beef!

Here is an explanation of the deliciousness of Miyazaki Beef

Last October, at the 12th National Wagyu Proficiency Show, a new evaluation category  “District 7” was established from the “Beef Category.” This category focuses on the “fat quality MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acid)” in addition to meat quantity and meat quality as one method to indicate “the deliciousness of Wagyu beef meat” in accordance with consumer needs and trends. “Oleic acid”, which makes up the majority of MUFA, lowers the melting point of the fat and makes the beef melt in the mouth. In addition, the “Wagyu aroma,” which is unique to Wagyu beef, becomes more pronounced, and is considered one of the indicators to evaluate the “deliciousness” of Wagyu Beef.

Look at this amazing view. The winner is confirmed even before you eat!

Miyazaki Beef showed overwhelming meat and fat quality that was superior to beef from other prefectures, and was awarded the first prize in the country, and “the best tasting beef in Japan.”

To summarize, the quality of fat is the secret of Miyazaki Beef being the best in Japan! It melts in the mouth just right without being greasy, making it very easy to eat!

If you go to Miyazaki Fudo Kuwanne, Miyazaki Beef is recommended, but you can also try the char-grilled Miyazaki chicken and deep-fried Mehikari(Chlorophthalmus borealis), which are made from “Miyazaki Jittoko Chicken” the locally raised chicken of the Miyazaki Prefecture. The manager and staff of the restaurant, who are overflowing with love for Miyazaki, can also help you choose from a wide variety of shochu (Japanese liquor) to match your meal.
