【PR comes in various forms, doesn’t it?!】Reporting on the reception of the UK-based brand “PLUM&ASHBY”👀

Here is a quick question for you. Do you know what “social” means in the “Social Relations Division?” When you look up “social” in the dictionary, it comes out as “relating to society.”
SUNNY SIDE UP’s strength in “media influence” has evolved this term beyond traditional mass media, focusing more on influencers and “people.” To enhance this, the name changed to Social Relations Division.
We recently organized an event focusing on “social” aspects, and now I’d like to share a report on a new event SUNNY SIDE UP took on as part of our latest initiative👀
Last August, we hosted an event for influencers to showcase the unique style and appeal of “PLUM&ASHBY,” a British home fragrance brand newly introduced to Japan.
PLUM&ASHBY is a brand founded by two women in the UK, drawing inspiration from the English rural landscape. Their fragrances reflect a clean and natural aesthetic.
They are very particular about the materials they use, and they focus on developing products that enrich customers’ daily lives through the use of PLUM&ASHBY items.
At SSU, we’ve been assisting PLUM&ASHBY since its Japan debut in August 2023. This time, our goal was to create an event aimed not only at the media but also at a wider audience, providing them with opportunities to experience the brand’s charm firsthand.
We carefully planned everything from choosing the venue to decorating it on the day of the event. We wanted to appeal not just to media outlets that focus on looks but also to influencers who care about the vibe and overall impression. Our goal was to capture the brand’s essence so it would connect with both groups.
Creating the brand’s atmosphere: 3 key points to consider
1.【Choosing the venue】
For this event, we aimed to promote the moisturizing effects of our oil-based bath essence, perfect for winter baths. Therefore, we searched for a venue that could convey the atmosphere of a “bathroom” to showcase our product.
We selected a venue that emphasized the following points to appeal to various lifestyle scenes:
①A venue with an atmosphere reminiscent of a boutique hotel in the UK, avoiding a bathroom that felt too modern.
②A venue where we could create various scenes to showcase the use of different items.
③Made sure that attendees wouldn’t feel cramped by confirming the layout of the space and pathways.
2.【Photo Booth】
To ensure that influencers enjoyed themselves, we styled around 6 to 8 different areas where they could take photos, not just in one spot.
We were able to get a variety of images posted by influencers by encouraging them to capture photos from their own unique perspectives, rather than just from the same angle.
3.【Catering】
We wanted people to enjoy the space while also getting to know the brand, so we prepared simple catering as well.
The brand excels in naturalness, so we provided “Natural Wine” and “Organic Craft Lemonade” for drinks, along with plant-based donuts as light snacks.
For this event, we focused on highlighting the relatively rare oil-based bath essence from among the lineup of various items.
This Bath Essence is fantastic because it moisturizes simply by soaking in it!
And the oil creates a layer in the bathwater, keeping the warmth in👀
The Bath Essence is made from 97% natural ingredients, the candles use soy wax, and the hand cream is made from 98% natural materials in an eco-friendly aluminum tube🌎🌿It’s a brand that cares about both people and the planet, making it perfect for personal use or gifting.
PR (Public Relations) can solve various challenges faced by companies and brands by utilizing communication tools. Personally, I see it as creating a mutual LOVE between the brand and the people.
Similar to “PLUM&ASHBY,” rather than just aiming for “recognition,” our goal was to make people “fall in love.” That’s why we created an event focused on”’people” and “social” aspects.
Looking back, we’re still enjoying the memories of the wonderful event we had.
