[Cannes Lions Business Trip Report] The family-type robot that nurtures LOVE, “LOVOT,” finally makes its “Cannes Lions” debut!

Bonjour, tout le monde!
Suddenly, everyone, do you have enough love in your life!?
In these busy times, haven’t we forgotten the emotion of “loving”?
For those who feel this way, we would like to introduce you to this!

Yes, this is ‘LOVOT,’ a family robot born to nurture people’s capacity to love! Sorry for the sudden promotion (laughs).

‘LOVOT’ is not a robot that does work for you, but rather a lovable presence that acts affectionately when you’re together and sometimes shows shyness around strangers.

Actually, this adorable ‘LOVOT’ recently appeared at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, commonly known as “Cannes Lions,” held in Cannes, France—one of the world’s three major advertising awards. I really wanted to see this major event with my own eyes, so I traveled to Cannes and would like to report on the appeal of Cannes Lions as I experienced it! I apologize for the late introduction—my name is Junpei Yamaguchi from PR Division 1.

■ Entering the Cannes Lions Venue!

Cannes Lions is the largest-scale event in terms of both entries and attendance among the many advertising and communication-related awards and festivals worldwide. The venue is the “Palais des Festivals et des Congrès,” famous for the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival. Every year, over 15,000 visitors from approximately 100 countries attend, and more than 40,000 works are submitted across all 21 categories.

During the week-long Cannes Lions, seminars and talk sessions by cutting-edge companies are held in various theaters and open spaces, filled with visitors from around the world.

From the submitted works, Grand Prix, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards are selected for each category and presented at the awards venue!

■ ‘LOVOT’ Appears at Cannes Lions!

‘LOVOT’ appeared at Cannes Lions, held on this world’s largest scale!

At the presentation by Kaname Hayashi, Representative Director of GROOVE X Inc., the creator of ‘LOVOT,’ approximately 150 seats were prepared at the venue, but once the presentation began, it quickly became so popular that standing room only appeared.

‘LOVOT’ was extremely popular in Cannes, France too! After the presentation and during free time at the venue, many people gathered wanting to touch ‘LOVOT’ and take photos with it!

The faces of those making eye contact with ‘LOVOT’ or holding it showed smiles as if looking at a small child, and it certainly captured the hearts of people of all ages, genders, and nationalities!

This time, watching the smiles of people gazing at ‘LOVOT’ in Cannes, I deeply felt that “loving” is something all humans possess, regardless of country, race, gender, or age!

The day when “every household around the world has one Japanese robot ‘LOVOT'” may not be far off.

That concludes the Cannes Lions business trip report! I will continue to work hard every day so I can visit Cannes again next year!
