■ How Past Experience and Skills Are Being Utilized in Current Work

Warashina: I often ask friends for PR assistance or get features placed through stylists I worked with during my time as an attaché de presse, so I think my past network is one of my strengths that’s really paying off now.

Sugitani: Having worked as an engineer before, I’m good with PC-related skills and analyzing numbers, which I feel are still useful in my current work. I’ve also worked at two PR companies, so I’m able to apply the knowledge I gained there as a foundation for my current PR work.

Hachisuka: Coming from a pharmacist background, I have some knowledge that helps with pharmaceutical or health-related projects, but there aren’t many areas where it directly applies… It does come in handy during self-introductions and icebreakers, though (laughs).

■ Impressions of SUNNY SIDE UP Before and After Joining

Warashina: Even after joining, there was no gap in a good way. Although I joined because I thought the people were great, I figured with this many employees there might be a few I wouldn’t get along with, but I’ve been able to work comfortably with everyone. I really feel this company has great communication and is blessed with wonderful people.

Sugitani: Same here. I felt the warmth of the people at SUNNY SIDE UP even before joining, and that hasn’t changed since I actually joined. Even during busy times, I feel it’s the bright and positive members that help us get through it.

Hachisuka: Before joining, I had this image of a flashy industry like you see in dramas, but when I actually joined, it wasn’t like that at all—I remember thinking everyone was really serious. Also, the company properly recognizes people who work hard, so I got the impression that there are many genuinely hardworking people here.

■ The Type of Person Who Would Fit Well at SUNNY SIDE UP

Warashina: I think it’s someone who is honest and hardworking. Also, positive people seem to fit well. Looking around the company, there are many honest, energetic, and cheerful members. When I see junior colleagues running up to me, I can’t help but find them adorable (laughs).

Sugitani: SUNNY SIDE UP has many serious people who approach everything positively. By serious, I don’t just mean people who complete their work precisely, but those who have a bright attitude and want to enjoy things together with everyone—I think those are the people who fit this company.

Hachisuka: It might be “totally typical,” but people who like new things and trends. If you’re not good at keeping up with the latest information, I think you’d find it difficult even if you joined.

■ Message to Those Considering Mid-Career Entry

Warashina: I have just one thing to say. Let’s Have Fun! together!

Sugitani: SUNNY SIDE UP handles a wide range of projects, and there’s an environment where if you raise your hand and say you want to do something, you’ll be given the opportunity. So if you want to take on challenges, please apply.

Hachisuka: As a second-year graduate, I entered a completely different industry—from pharmacist to PR company—so I had never even written an email or exchanged business cards. Even in that situation, the senior members at SUNNY SIDE UP taught me everything step by step, and I’ve been learning not only skills but also ways of thinking and living as a person!
