Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Talk! Announcement of Company Information Session for Class of 2027 Young Member Roundtable Discussion🍳

Hello! I’m Tanaka from the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP HR team.

As the early-blooming cherry blossoms at Shinjuku Gyoen herald the arrival of spring, our entire group is becoming increasingly energized with new encounters, including the recent participation of Billcom Inc.

With new members joining us soon, we at SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP are once again hosting online company information sessions for those planning to graduate in 2027.

Titled:

“Corporate Research Program” ~How to Create Exciting Buzz!~

This information session is recommended not only for those interested in SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP, but also for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the PR industry, including questions like “What is PR in the first place?” “What’s the difference between PR and advertising?” “What kind of work do PR and marketing professionals do?” and “What are the advantages of a PR company developing IP business?”

This time, we’re delivering a special edition of one of the exclusive content pieces that received great feedback last time: the “Young Member Roundtable Discussion.”

The roundtable participants are Kusai from the Class of 2023, Kuwazaki from the Class of 2024, and Enomoto from the Class of 2025. The MC is Mizutani, who herself joined as a new graduate and currently serves as a leader in the Social Relations Division (SR Division) at SUNNY SIDE UP. Four members with different years of experience and primarily different projects will engage in lively conversation.

The discussion became so lively that they forgot the cameras were rolling, and we’re sharing episodes from their student days and other content that unfortunately couldn’t fit into the video. Please enjoy until the end!

※To convey the members’ relationships and usual atmosphere, this article is written in conversational format using their actual statements.

Introducing the members gathered today

Mizutani:
I’m Mizutani, in my sixth year at SUNNY SIDE UP. I usually work as a sales account manager for clients, directing assigned projects, and as a group leader, managing young members.

Kusai:
I’m Kusai, in my third year at SUNNY SIDE UP. I belong to the SR Division, which specializes in media approaches, and handle a wide range of projects.

In particular, I’m involved in various sports-related projects, from large-scale sporting events such as baseball, soccer, basketball, and marathons to sports equipment. Recently, I’ve also participated in PR projects for globally recognized content!

Kuwazaki:
I’m Kuwazaki, also in my second year at SUNNY SIDE UP. I currently handle projects related to regional areas. Actually, I’ve been working on this project since my first year, so I’m very attached to it.

Mizutani:
Both of them are members who are thriving in the SR Division. And this time, we have Enomoto joining us representing the young members of Steady Study!

Enomoto:
I’m Enomoto, in my first year at Steady Study. I mainly handle PR for imported fashion brands, covering both men’s and women’s lines.

Additionally, managing sample leasing at the showroom attached to our office is one of the duties for us new graduate members. It’s an important job where we communicate the brand’s worldview through interactions with stylists and media editors.

Kusai:
That’s amazing! Managing a showroom from your first year—that’s unimaginable for us, right?

Kuwazaki Enomoto:
(Laughs)

Mizutani:
It’s rare for members like us—working in different offices in Sendagaya and Omotesando, with different years of experience—to gather like this. Let’s have an enjoyable conversation!

[Exclusive Part 1] Four Members Discuss Their Unimaginable Futures

Mizutani:
Since this roundtable will be viewed by those attending the information session, let’s talk about your student days. Enomoto, when you were a student, could you imagine yourself as you are now?

Enomoto:
Although I interned in fashion brand PR before joining, I never imagined I would be this deeply involved in fashion.

However, I did want to do work that involved connecting with people or bridging between people, so I feel like I’m on an extension of that vision now.

Mizutani:
PR is work where communication with people is essential. In that sense, you might have been able to imagine it somewhat. Kuwazaki, what kind of future did you imagine for yourself?

Kuwazaki:
Honestly, I couldn’t imagine it at all. Since I’m from a regional area, I’m surprised at myself for now working in Tokyo and interacting with so many media professionals.

My original motivation for pursuing the PR industry was wanting to do work related to regional revitalization, so actually being involved in related projects and feeling the impact on many people makes every day very fulfilling!

Kusai:
But Kuwa (Kuwazaki), you had the presence and composure of someone in their second or third year even in your first year. You were very calm.

Mizutani:
A polished image, or… (laughs).

Kuwazaki:
People called me “a Tokyo person” (laughs).

Mizutani:
How about you, Kusai?

Kusai:
I also never thought I’d end up like this. I was a soccer kid through and through, completely immersed in soccer during my student days, so I never even imagined myself doing any other kind of work.

I loved both playing and watching sports, but to be on the side creating “spectator” sports events as a PR professional… It was an unimaginable future for my past self, but I find tremendous enjoyment and excitement in my current work.

Mizutani:
Each of you has your own background that connects to your current work.

Kusai:
By the way, what about you, Mizutani?

Mizutani:
Before pursuing the PR industry, I wanted to “be in the spotlight and disseminate information,” so I was job hunting mainly at TV stations, aiming to be an announcer or reporter. I didn’t yet know about PR work, which supports information dissemination by connecting companies and media.

However, my initial desire to influence the world through my own communication has ultimately been realized through PR work that “creates exciting buzz,” and the experiences I had as a student in preparation for being in the spotlight have come full circle, leading to opportunities like today’s MC role because people say “You’re good at speaking in public.” It’s a mysterious thing.

Kusai:
You’re in high demand at internal events!

Mizutani:
True, I do have many opportunities to speak in public (laughs). Now, I want to become someone who understands both the front and back of information dissemination.

[Exclusive Part 2] The First Three Months of Going Full Speed and the Joy of PR

Mizutani:
As you all mentioned, the strong sense of professional responsibility and mission that develops through various tasks—including interactions with clients and media representatives, and handling events and interviews—is a particularly significant difference from student life. Kusai, how did you overcome this gap?

Kusai:
Actually, Mizutani was in charge of my OJT (On the Job Training) when I joined. As I mentioned earlier, I had never considered doing work other than soccer, so I was really struggling.

I’m more of an intuitive type who acts on instinct, while Mizutani thinks things through before acting, so there was a lot to learn. I was desperately trying to catch up with the environmental changes while trying to absorb as much as possible from Mizutani’s strengths in how to approach work.

Honestly, it was really tough, but I believe those three months are why I’ve been able to grow this much!

Mizutani:
We had lots of meetings and lots of task reviews (laughs). It’s important not just to be given tasks, but to organize them yourself.

Kusai:
Yes. What left the biggest impression was during our first OJT meeting when you said you would “make me (Kusai) the number one media promoter.”

It should have felt like pressure, but I was so happy… I decided to follow this person, and those tough days were the result (laughs).

Mizutani:
I may have put too much pressure on you with my expectations (laughs).

Everyone:
(Laughs)

Kusai:
No, no, not at all. I was happy (laughs)!

Mizutani:
Since you’re Kusai, who’s always been chasing the ball, I thought it would be better to set a clear goal and pursue it together. Now you’ve truly grown into a member trusted by those around you, and as your former OJT supervisor, I’m very proud.

I’m sure there were many challenges in transitioning from student to working professional, but the greatest reward of this work is being able to deliver “exciting buzz” to people you never imagined reaching.

Kuwazaki:
When you truly feel you’ve delivered it, it becomes so enjoyable!

Kusai:
That’s the most rewarding part, right?

Mizutani:
Being able to have such experiences even in your first to third years is one of the great aspects of SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP. Being able to show your hard work and results to family and friends through media exposure might also be a unique appeal of working at a PR company.

Through our conversation, I could sense that all of you, while trial and error, have become able to think and act as professional PR professionals about “what value to propose to the world and how to move people.” It was both nostalgic and very stimulating for me.

The interesting thing about PR is that it holds unlimited potential to meet a version of yourself you never imagined. All of us members look forward to the day when we can create yet-unseen “exciting buzz” together with those graduating in 2027!

How was it?

Actually, one of the members in this roundtable discussion was recognized as the “number one media promoter” mentioned in Exclusive Part 2…!

In the main session, we’ll deliver specific case studies experienced by our members in a condensed format to better convey the excitement of PR and communication.

In addition, we have prepared many exclusive content pieces available only at the information session. We sincerely look forward to your application!
