October has arrived in the blink of an eye! (I’m surprised at how fast it came…) It’s become quite cool, and we’re now in the perfect season to enjoy autumn flavors and atmosphere 🍂
SUNNY SIDE UP held its “2023 Unofficial Job Offer Ceremony” today, October 3rd! In recent years, the ceremony had been held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but for the first time in three years, we held it offline with everyone gathering at the office!!

SUNNY SIDE UP Holds 2022 Unofficial Job Offer Ceremony Online! Overflowing with Personality!? Looking Forward to Members’ Success Starting in April
From the morning, members decorated the office to convey their warm welcome to the soon-to-be colleagues who received job offers.
More to the right! More to the left!
At the entrance, the first thing visitors see, we set up a heartfelt welcome board
We proceeded with preparations while excitedly imagining what kind of members would be joining us.
What kind of lottery is this…?
We also set up a streaming system so that remote members could participate in the ceremony.
And before we knew it, it was 11 o’clock. The ceremony was about to begin!
The job offer recipients make their entrance!
Every year at SUNNY SIDE UP’s ceremony, we ask participants to wear their favorite outfits. This year as well, everyone came dressed in colors and styles that expressed their unique personalities ^^
Leading the excitement for the new recipients’ entrance were members centered around the first-year employees who participated as job offer recipients last year and have now grown remarkably (?).
Once all attendees had gathered, Masato Kokubo, President and Representative Director of SUNNY SIDE UP Inc., delivered his opening remarks.
For some reason, I’m the one feeling nervous at this largest-ever ceremony… (laughs)
As a company, we decided to welcome and help more young people join and grow,and to grow as a company alongside them.Since then, the number of new graduates joining us each year has been gradually increasing.
The company’s growth is your growth.
We look forward to your success from April onward.
Then, Director Rie Matsumoto shared:
Our encounter began with your application forms,and we’ve met several times since then,but I’m truly happy to finally see your faces here at this ceremony.
By the time you join us, I’d like you to aim for the goal of“having as many members as possible know everyone’s faces and names.”
By doing so, I believe your first day will go much more smoothly.
We will also work to learn all of your faces and names,so please tell us lots about yourselves!
Please have experiences that you can only have now,and I hope to see you all in good spirits in April. Congratulations!
And now, the main event of the ceremony: “Presentation of Unofficial Job Offer Certificates”! It seems some unique items have been prepared this year…!?

The reveal: “T-shirt-style Unofficial Job Offer Certificates”! The HR Director put their heart into creating these one-of-a-kind items, adding each person’s name individually. The back prints are matching for everyone.
Even the watching senior members couldn’t hide their surprise at these unprecedented job offer certificates…!?
As each person received theirs, they put them on! This was their first matching item with their future colleagues, with whom they’ll share many joys and overcome challenges together.
After that, a giant SUNNY SIDE UP original cake appeared!!
At weddings, the cake-cutting ceremony symbolizes “joining hands to overcome any difficulty together.” We decided to have the two people who drew the “winning” tickets earlier and President Kokubo perform this ceremony together!
Going back an hour and a half… at this point, the job offer recipients still didn’t know what the lottery was for.
(I’ll secretly share that the selected members screamed with excitement! lol)
The nerve-wracking joint task completed successfully, and next came the “first bite” 🍰
With the sentiment of “ensuring you’ll never go hungry (= always have rice with egg!?)”…
Gently now…
As the ceremony approached its conclusion, we unveiled a video that all the job offer recipients collaborated to create! Through the common question “What is your ambition?”, we learned about everyone’s enthusiasm for working at SUNNY SIDE UP!
What surprised me was the breadth of members’ interests! Sports, art, flowers, photography, even fan activities (?)…!! It was a wonderful video that allowed us to imagine the day when each of you will handle PR in your favorite fields and achieve those ambitions.

SUNNY SIDE UP is celebrating its 38th year. In the company’s early days, while we were blessed with people, finding those who wanted to work with us was truly challenging.

What the senior members had prepared at the entrance were message cards from executives to each individual. After the ceremony, everyone took time to read the messages carefully.
Holding the ceremony offline for the first time in a while allowed us to spend time seeing everyone’s faces directly, getting to know you all, and making us even more eager for next April!
