Hello! I am Oku from the Account Planning Division, now in my third year with the company.

Those who are familiar with SUNNY SIDE UP may already know this, but our company is filled with “sunny” touches in many ways—starting with our unique internal program, the “32 Benefits,” a play on “sunny.”

Even outside the office, when I tell friends, “I work at a company called SUNNY SIDE UP!” they say, “What’s that—sunny-side up eggs? That’s cute and sounds delicious!” And when I introduce myself as “Oku from SUNNY SIDE UP,” I get, “That sounds like a comedian duo named SUNNY SIDE UP.” Thanks to our pop company name, I am sure many of our members have had conversations take off like this, too!?

Yes—we have many memories tied to the name “SUNNY SIDE UP,” and we feel strongly attached to it. As a PR company, we wondered if we could contribute something to the sunny-side-up world…

With that in mind, we are launching the “Promoting ‘SUNNY SIDE UP’-style things at our own discretion’ Project!” and would like to promote, at our own discretion, various things related to “SUNNY SIDE UP” and “SUNNY DAYS.”

1) Wearable sunny-side up! Original T-shirts & vintage shop “Sunny Days” on Amami Oshima

First, we would like to introduce “Sunny Days,” a shop on the tropical island of Amami Oshima that mainly features the original T-shirt brand Sunny Days, along with selected items and handmade goods. Located right in front of Amami Airport, this shop is well known not only to local residents but also to tourists visiting the island.

Why did we suddenly pick a shop on the remote island of Amami…? In fact, the author was born and raised in Amami, so I stop by “Sunny Days” every time I return home. I simply could not help featuring it in this blog! So, I actually bought a T-shirt and tried it on!!

My colleague Kitai (from the same intake year) looks great as a model. Kitai’s interview article is available here. This island-banana motif T-shirt is something you really see all the time in Amami. Put it on, and you will be welcomed into the Shimanchu community…!

We also snapped a photo next to the plants in our recently renovated office. Standing alongside greenery in a “Sunny Days” T-shirt instantly brings a tropical vibe—even in the middle of Tokyo!

2) Taste sunny-side up! Café “SUNNY SIDE UP” known for its delicious omurice

Next, we would like to introduce the café “SUNNY SIDE UP,” with a storefront that feels like you have wandered into another country, facing a quiet street a short walk from Osaki Station!

The lunch shrimp pilaf and omurice both look delicious…

After much deliberation, I ordered the recommended signature dish: omurice. Perhaps because I arrived early for lunch, a calm, quiet time passed by, accompanied by the appetizing sounds of omurice being prepared.

After about a 10-minute wait, the SUNNY SIDE UP omurice arrived!! While fluffy omurice is the current trend, this one is a classic style with the rice neatly wrapped inside.

I thoroughly enjoyed its gentle flavor with a rich buttery finish. And before I knew it, the café was full of what appeared to be regulars and office workers! On my way out, I worked up the courage to say to the owner, “My company is also called ‘SUNNY SIDE UP’!” and he replied, “I might know it…!” (laughs)

He even told me, “It seems there is also a vintage shop in Shimokitazawa,” and we exchanged SUNNY SIDE UP information—making it a truly egg-filled lunchtime.
