SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP started work today. We held our annual zodiac event in a hybrid format, both online and offline 🐰
Every year on the first day of work, we invite guests related to that year’s zodiac animal (Year of the Sheep: real sheep, Year of the Rooster: the members of Ostrich Club, Year of the Dog: members’ pet dogs, etc.), so what kind of guests will appear this year…!?

Company-Wide Morning Assembly
At 10:00 AM, the SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP company-wide morning assembly began!
A video featuring “The Tortoise and the Hare” with this year’s message was shown, but for various reasons, we’ll keep it in our hearts… 🐰🐢
Originally, this fable teaches that “overconfidence and complacency can cause you to miss opportunities, and even if your abilities are lacking and your progress is slow, by looking ahead and moving forward steadily, you can ultimately achieve great results.” We added the message of making this a year of hopping forward 🐰, and started the year with renewed determination to work together!
first shrine visit of New Year
After the morning assembly, we visited the nearby “Hatomori Hachiman Shrine”! Representatives from each group company participated in a prayer ceremony and prayed for the group’s prosperity.
The dove-shaped fortune slips original to “Hatomori Hachiman Shrine.” An annual tradition we look forward to 🕊
With beautiful blue skies, we have a feeling it will be a great year ⛅
Calligraphy
During lunchtime, we held the annual SUNNY DAYS-presented “calligraphy” event ✍
Using gold and crimson ink for radiant calligraphy, we upgraded from last year ✨ Each member wrote while thinking about what kind of year they want to have.
This time, we had a special guest—Kotsubo-san, who will join SUNNY SIDE UP as a new graduate this year and also works as a calligraphy artist!
As expected… so skilled!
As everyone’s teacher, she kindly instructed each person 🖌 Her praise was so generous that everyone felt great and ended up writing too much (laughs)

When the teacher picked up the brush, exclamations of admiration could be heard from all around. The first characters she wrote, “Gasei” (New Year’s Greetings), were so wonderful we wanted to frame them immediately!

A member who practiced calligraphy with large brushes in college picked up the brush again after a long time!
There’s a rabbit motif…! So cute!
With some humorous moments, works filled with each member’s thoughts for the beginning of the year were completed!
In the evening, “Snack Tamako” and “Snack Hotaru,” run by SUNNY SIDE UP GROUP President and CEO Tsugihara, SUNNY SIDE UP Director Matsumoto, and Scramble President and CEO Yodose respectively, opened! 🚪

And amazingly, conveyor belt sushi came to the office! Although members already ate plenty during the New Year holidays, we still ate more 🍣 (laughs)
The Smile Keepers also made New Year-appropriate ozoni (rice cake soup) 🥕🍶 Some members said, “I haven’t had ozoni yet this year! I’m so happy!” 😊
This concludes this year’s kick-off event! Having fulfilled their roles, the rabbit characters removed their ears and returned to their regular work 🐰
